How Much Do You Tip The Groomer? She charged $40 per dog (2 dogs) for grooming which included teeth brushing and some extras. Excellent groomer who does not cage the pups, she lets them all play together and my pups loved it. It relieved the usual caged up stress. It is not her own business, she is employed by a doggy boutique. Thanks! |

I give $5 or 15% depending on how much the groomer does. Sometimes it is just a bath and nail trim, and clean up around the eyes and butt. Other times, it is a full cut. |
I usually tip 20%. Natalie goes to Petsmart and always sees the girl. She is also the manager of the grooming salon so I know she has been doing this awhile. I think if you tip well and regularly see the same person, they take better care of your baby and makes it easier on the dog as well. |
I tip 25-30% but she picks up my baby from my job and takes her with her. She also offered to bring her back if I needed. She only charges me 20.00 for everything and she takes great care of her.. |
i just had karleigh groomed a few days ago and they rasied there rates by $2.00 but i trust them and they do a great job so i still tip at least $7.00 |
I tip 20%. I have an excellent groomer who just loves my little one!! |
I'm glad someone asked this. I'm taking Jake to the groomer for the first time next week. I'm nervous:animal-pa |
wow i save alot of money by doing them myself lol |
I give a lot. Jazzie was groomed today and her bill was $42.00 - I gave $60 - no change. |
I have both babies done for $48 each (so $96.00) and tip $20 ..YIKES! It hurts when I write it down. I usually just sign the slip without looking. I am going to try to take them only every 2 months ... this is the first time I am going 2 months, so I shall see what happens and if I can see their faces. These babies are high maintenance .... but worth every penny. |
In the past I've only done approx 10% - where I go that's what they say the standard is. But now I take both of them to the instructor who teaches dog grooming - She charges $15 per dog for bath and brush out (nails and ears as well) and she's not allowed to accept tips! (She charges $25 per dog for others but as I have been going for years she has never raised my rates!) |
Something else I thought of... ask if they will give any discounts if you set up standing appointments. I know there is a a professional groomer by us who charges $35 per dog, but if you schedule six weeks out on a consistent basis, she charges $25 per dog. If you take them in every 3 weeks, she charges only $10. |
I just had Cali and Maya groomed yesterday and it was 44.00 total so I tipped her 16.00 since she is so reasonable. I have been using her for 17 years. |
Thanks for your responses. As it turned out the tip I gave was exactly 20% because the was the exact amount of cash I had with me. I feel better knowing that was a decent tip because I just didn't have any idea. I think Daisy and Teddy really liked it there. They didn't seem at all stressed when I picked them up like they are when they have spent all day in a cage. They got a report card that said they were perfect angels (hmmmm...I sure hope they were)...and today I got a "thank you and hope to see Daisy and Teddy Again" card in the mail. I guess they behaved ok since they are asking them to come back. LOL I am very pleased with the groomer and will definitely go back. It is like they get a doggy play day at the same time as being groomed. I think it was well worth the price. |

It costs $70 to have them both groomed and we tip 15 to 20 dollars |
I got tired of paying the groomer and tipping too, so I quit going and now groom all the dogs myself. :D I may take one in in the future, but as a rule, they're done at home. I tip myself by buying more things for my dogs.:yelrotflm |
I was grooming mine for awhile too but I never got that good. I still took them to a groomer for nails and anals, which I don't want to do. Also I only started grooming them because one of them fell off of a grooming table once. But, I often wanted to take them to doggy camp or daycare about once a week so they could interact and play with other pups in a supervised situation without mom and dad. It would cost about $55 for both for a few hours. I thought that was kind of expensive. So I kind of figure I am getting the best of both worlds. They are getting a morning or afternoon play time with other pups and a complete grooming thrown in for good measure. I love it. The part that I like most about this boutique/groom shop is that they are not in cages at any time. The shop is beautiful with beautiful flooring and little white fences. It is just a great place to leave your pup. I know the price is kind of high but I don't mind paying it to leave them here. I knew when I got them that the cost of grooming was part of being owned by Yorkies so that's ok. |

Wow, can I groom your dogs???? :D You're really generous! |
I'm sorry, call me cruel, but I don't tip! This is there job, I pay them $60 every 6 weeks to groom my girls and I feel that that is enough. |

It costs me $100 for grooming and I always tip Kim the groomer $20. I don't see it as any different than tipping my hairdresser (not that I get groomed as often as the monkeys, haha)! |
It is always wonderful when you find a good groomer...one that you and the babies like! My groomer only charges $15 or $20 (depending on what is done) - yes, that is super cheap isn't it....we have known her for years though and, shhh, I think we get a good discount. Anyway, I always tip $5 or during the holidays (because she always gets us in no matter what), I tip more. |

When I custom make things for people, I'm doing a service and I don't get tipped. I just have a hard time dealing with the whole tipping thing. I will say I do tip my waitress, but only cause she is only making about $2.15 a hour here in Indiana |

[QUOTE=Doodlebug;1168982] They got a report card that said they were perfect angels (hmmmm...I sure hope they were)...and today I got a "thank you and hope to see Daisy and Teddy Again" card in the mail. I guess they behaved ok since they are asking them to come back. LOL That's so cute that they give a report card! I love that! I remember awhile back, my dh and I went out of town right after we'd moved here, and I had to find a place to board my parrots. I found a really nice animal "spa" place nearby and they had the large cages and everything.....and it was SO inexpenisive to boot....I took all their food and toys of course. Anyway, the next time I wanted to board them they had raised the fee like about 500%, LOL...I have a feeling if they gave report cards, my birds would have gotten not such a good one:rolleyes: I usually tip 15%, but should really tip 20 I think, b/c they do an excellent job and I have Max cut really short which takes them more time I think. Guess I'll have to increase that next time! |

I tip the girl who grooms my dog mainly b/c I go to a place where there are several people working for the owner, and I don't have a clue what each of them makes or how they are paid, but I just get the feeling that they probably work on a dog by dog basis? I do think they charge enough actually, but I know she doesn't get all that money. My hairdresser owns his own shop and I know most people do tip him, but he told me not to tip him b/c I'm in there with a standing appointment every 3 weeks. If it weren't for that, I WOULD tip him. I used to go to a guy who billed himself as the "Guru to the Glamorous"....and he charged me a LOT for the color and cut, but on top of that, he charged me $50 for my hair to be blown dry (it's LONG and straight). So if I didn't want to walk out of the salon with wet, stringy hair, I had to pay another $50....AND HE didnt' even do my color..he had a "colorist" who did it, so I was expected to tip HIM too.....go figure.....the owner's driving a Rolls Royce; that should have told me SOMETHING right there, LOL:mad: |
I am so glad someone posted this b/c I was so unsure if I was supposed to tip or not. i take Gizzie to the doggie day spa and the lady who owns it also does the work. the first time I had her groomed I was wondering if I was supposed to tip her so I tipped her $10 and she looked shocked so I figured that was either really good or really bad! so now I tip her every other time. Not trying to sound cheap but I didnt know |
My last trip for all :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork was $65. That was for the standard bathing and extras plus puppy cuts on all three. I gave her $80. She is a wonderful groomer and also does not cage them. When i leave she locks the door and lets them roam around. |
