i swear by Cowboy Magic. if it is just one or two matts, i rub a generous amount right into the matt. If it's all over and down to the skin like the girl puppy I am keeping, i put a generous amount in the palm of my hand and rub it right into the skin. It seems to help and as thick as her hair is, it doesn't cause it to look oily. |
Thank you! I looked for a store with Cowboy Magic and it says I can get it up the road I live on! We have horses all over this road and there is a feed store I could walk to! I'm gonna try it! I have used a little baby oil since yesterday and it helps a little more, and at this point I don't care if she looks greasy for a while till we get them out! The grease actually keeps her hair smooth (the part that I've gotten matt-free)!! |

I had the very same problem with my 1st Yorkie Scruffy. Poor Baby - I took a couple of days to get the Matts out. We just would give him a break & try again later until he was matt free. Baby Oil did the trick - Then I learned about Cowboy Magic on YT after. I have used it ever since then. I have 4 Yorkies now & won't have that problem again. I always use a conditioner on my Furbabies now even when they are little pups. My favorite is Plush Puppy Shampoo, Conditioner & Blow Dry Cream. It works for all the different coated Yorkies I have. I also have the Plush Puppy Seabreeze Oil for my Wirey/Combination Coated Lexi. I use Cowboy Magic for combing in between weekly baths. |
Tink got terrible matts when she was tiny. It took me a week to work them all out using Cowboy Magic and my fingers. I aslo thought I was going to have to shave her. It just took time and patience. I did have to cut a couple of them out. Now, after every bath, as soon as she is dry, I work a dollop of it through her hair and we've never had another matt. I love that stuff! |

My female puppy Sophie gets mats very easily when she plays rough with Tucker. I use this tangle remover: http://missyt.shopshurepets.com/Prod...id=124&cid=103 (The key is to spray it on the mats, leave it on for 5 minutes, then use the edge of a comb to untangle the mat.) I have one travel size sample of this, if you would like to try it I will send it to you! I have never used this, but it is an Emu Oil spray: http://missyt.shopshurepets.com/Prod...id=142&cid=103 and an Emu Oil shampoo that I have used and like: http://missyt.shopshurepets.com/Prod...id=141&cid=103 Good luck!
