Schnauzer cut My neighbors across the street have a yorkie. We both use the same groomer. She wanted me to go over and see if I liked the way she cut their dogs hair. (she gave my dog a puppy cut and I did not like it for Autumn) So I went over today and they have their yorkie cut almost like a mini schnauzer, close cut to the body w/the skirt around the bottom and the longer mustache. Has anyone else cut their yorkie like this, is it common? She looked cute but I did not think that most people would cut their yorkies like that. Am I wrong.:confused: |

I cut Dezi's hair like that. I will look for a picture to post. I have them cut the body short and leave the paws and face long. |

I think it may depend on how leggie they are and how much hair they have. I cut Azrael like that because her hair is extremely thick, and she's short. I tried that cut on Zada and it didn't work at all. Her hair is thin and silky and her legs are longer. I'm letting her hair grow back now, but I still keep Azrael cut like that. 1 Attachment(s) We kept Boog done in that cut...it's called a 'schnorkie' cut. We left a skirt all the way around and his legs were short and fluffy...the rest of his hair was cut short and sleek. We also left an eyebrow that curled over his eyes but we didn't leave the long hair on the muzzle...they did what they called a 'donut' so it was short around his mouth. Boog had a cottony coat and the schnorkie cut worked very well for him...but no matter how his hair was done...I think he was the cutest Yorkie ever! :D |

Well I am amazed at how these babies look. I had Cody done in a Schnauzer cut as the groomer just bragged about how great yorkies look like that. He looked horrible. I was so angry. Of course maybe it is because he has floppy ears, and a silkie coat . I don't know. I didn't like it on him, but your yorkies look great. I'm confused on how to cut Izzy for the summer. |
A Schnauzer cut is beautiful if the yorkie have a straight back and long legs . |

I think each groomer may have a different version/variation of this cut...I have seen soo many different styles of this same cut.....either way, they are all cute though...and perfect for summer!! |
schnauzer cut yikes I took Maxwell for his first cut - going in he was a 4 pound, 5 month old ball of fluff. The groomer said he was a maniac when he heard the clippers, but he came out looking like a baby schnauzer, but shaved all over except long around his mouth. He couldn't do his ears because he said it would have been a blood bath, so now his ears are all floppy, they were just starting to try to stand up. I was a little sad:eek: , but he still looks cute - but it was right before our family reunion. His personality won everyone's heart, but I wanted a regular puppy cut. No photo, can't get the gumption to show it off til it grows a bit. |
Autumn Star we have our yorkie cut with the snuazzer cut and love it....he is a large dog and this cut really does look great on him...and so easy to keep him groomed... we could not see him with a bow in his hair, his personality is a tough little guy..... |

This is how i have Copper cut now too. I have posted these before, I think, but it was helpful when searching for the right cut to have pics so here is one from the side, and one showing his face just for anyone else that is thinking about trying it. |

I did a groom one day that the lady usually got a schanuzer cut but on her yorkie is did not look good. So we did a modified westie cut, so much cuter! Left the back about 1/2" long, blended nicely to the skirt, trimmed under the skirt to revel a nice arch (highest point of the ach was unde rthe last rib bone). Nice little round head and tipped ears. It is cute and managable and a little different. |
im just wondering if that cut would look good on a female... i want lexi to at least look like a girl. shes do soon for a professional cut |
