How often to the groomers? The groomer that I take my Maltese & Yorkie to recommends a Maintenance Plan in which you bring your dogs every 2 weeks for a reduced price. Does anyone take theirs that often? Is it helpful? |
I take my yorkie to groomer once a month. |
every week Lola is taken to the groomers Louise Harris mummy of lola who has spent $110,000 on her little baby has her own personal groomer for Lola where she has nail painting and massages every week. I wouldn't mind being lola :) http://www.divadogs.co.uk/news.php?article=6 and spent $20,000 on pet carriers there is a breakdown of what this lady has spent. it's a LOT! |
I take mines twice a year...and in between the time I do all the basic myself... |
Hmmmm...I still have to take them for the first time. |
Jewels goes every month because she has a long coat and Chachi has a short coat and goes every couple of months |
ok something is off here at my house, because I take Bobo once a week for a bath and a blow dry. I can not do his hair good enough to make it look as good as they do. He definitley needs a bath once a week or he has a really strong doggy smell. luckily they only charge me 10.00 for just a bath and dry, with a bow in the hair. Tammy |
My groomer comes to the house every six weeks. In between that I bath and clean my dogs ears weekly!:aimeeyork |

i was thinking the same thing!!:D he is only 13 weeks old so i do not feel a rush to have him groomed yet. i do want to find a good one to give him a puppy cut though - i don't like the long hair look on boys. |
We bring Tia in once a month...and I bathe her every week between visits, along with other maintenance (brushing, teeth, etc). |
i bathe and dry maggie once a week, she gets brushed twice a day, and i have only cut her hair once. I have asked in the past if I should take her to get trimmed or not...I dont know if these guys suffer from split ends the way we humans do :) but I am thinking she will start needing trims soon. I'm thinking once a month but I will see what others say... |
I try to take him once a month....but it hasnt worked out that way. He has only been to the groomer twice since Ive had him. December and February. In between that I've trimmed him myself a couple of times and I bathe him once a week. Im going to take him back soon.....He's starting to look like a homeless dog:p |
My babies go to the groomer once a month for the works. But at home I give them a bath and clean their ears every week. I also take them in-between grooming visits (every 2 weeks) for touch-ups (trim by the eyes, cut nails if necessary and sanitary trim). |
Once a month My male maltese loves the outdoors:rolleyes: and Dior has a strong puppy smell. (the vet says no, but i am with her every day):D . I give them a bath every 2 weeks. I would wash them DAILY if it was allowed:) |
Cali goes every 3 months for a good professional groom and I do it the rest of the time. Pixie has never been and I don't think she will. She has a very silky, thin coat that doesn't mat and is a breeze to groom. |
Mine go every couple of weeks. I usually take them every other Friday, and lately, it's been opposite Fridays. So I'll take Pixie this Friday, and Bogey next Friday and so on ;) |
We have some clients that come every week, some every two weeks and some 4 and 6 weeks and a few that come once a year, weather they need it or not!!! For puppies that are going to come on a regular basis I like to see them once a month, that way they are not afraid and the learn the routine. My Glimmer that sleeps with me , she gets a bath once or twice a week depends on if she gets smelly . She sleeps next to my pillow and she just has to smell good!!! I tell my clients to come as often as you can afford it and I will keep your dogs looking great!! Owner Best Friends Pet Salon Salem Oregon |
Same here. I have clients that come to me every week (reduced price), since it's very easy to groom them. Some come every 2 weeks, once a month and then there are those that come in whenever they want miracles performed........usually every 3 or 4 months. I usually recommend once a month, especially the soft coated yorkies. |
we do every 6 weeks. when weeks 4-5 rolls around, she desperately needs grooming. |
4 Attachment(s) Even my Standard Poodle "Chaucer" gets a bath once a week and needs a hair cut at least every two weeks , I just hate a hairy face and feet. It is hard to be a groomer and see one of your own dogs messy. Chaucer loves the off leash park where he gets to play hard with his friends. Yep he gets dirty!! When I first started grooming I hated poodles they were so hard to do , as I am self taught. Tim Reese a well known handler started showing my Shih Tzu for me and I shared my thoughts about poodles with him. He was a poodle breeder at the time. I told him I wouldn't have a poodle if someone gave me one. And at the next show there he was a min. black poodle baby just for me. My job was to groom show and finish him. And Tim would help me along the way correcting my scissoring skills. Well I named him "Dunkirk's Just Fur Fun and called him Timmy after Tim Reese. That is how I became a great groomer and that is how I got my love for the poodle. Tim is a very smart man. |

I've never been drawn to poodles but your Chaucer is awesome! He doesn't have any tear stains either... why do some have it and other don't? I love your heart on his side, too! The place that I usually take Mia to get groomed does that too. They are strictly Shih Tzu people and love coloring their hair. :) |
I was a hairdresser before I was a dog groomer so color only seems natural!!! and it is so much fun!!! The looks Chaucer gets while going down the street are amazing. |
We groom our own dogs, but we shampoo, condition, and blow dry once a week. Brush hair daily, wash face every other day or as needed. Trim nails and other "areas" as needed. Express anal glands as needed. They don't go to a groomer due to horrible experiences in the past with other dogs... |
