To the parents of adult Yorkies

I've been looking at some pictures as I'm planning to start growing Peppper's hair. However, I've got a little confused about the ears. Do you keep shaving just the tip of the ear all the time, forever? Becauze I see long hair at the base of the ear but the tip appears bare. Am I right??

i go down about half of the ear and shave it all around...

Thanks! The picture is adorable. I love the little ponytails on the butt . I guess once you let the hair grow on the ears they still may flop because of the weight of it....

Pierce is 2 yrs old and I never have cut his hair. I put the tail and the side of his hair up in pony tails to keep it from pee or poop . The ears look better and neatly when they are trim.
