Tipping your groomer Hi, how many of you's tip your groomer? I never realized until i seen a thread on here about groomers my groomer works at my vet office, I am very pleased with her. i feel really bad and cheap now. I said something to my husband and he ask if i tip my hairdresser. I am letting Gimpy grow out so she only charges me 15.90 to bath, trim and nails when cutting him in puppy cut she charges 22.00 I paid with my bank card (visa) there is no where on the slip for a tip. so what hand her cash? |
I paid mine with credit card too and just hand her $5 cash as tips. |
I usually like to tip my groomer (and hair stylist) 20% of the total bill. If there is no place to write in a tip, just hand the groomer cash and say something to the effect, "you did such a great job, here you go." Some places will have a sign posted that says "Tips greatly appreciated" or perhaps a jar for tips. Hope this helps :) |

I usually tip the groomer $5. |
OK, I admit, I am the worst tipper in the world. I grew up in Europe, where we don't tip. So sometimes I just plain forget. And I'll feel aweful about it later. What happened last time is, I felt so bad about not tipping the visit before that, that I left a bigger tip than usual and I wasn't even that happy with the cut  I'd say $5 is a good amount! |
Tipped Over Sounds like my groomer must put her tip in the price. I pay $27 |
Mine charge $36.00 for Sunshine so no I don't tip her. |
My groomer is connected to Chuck and Don's Pet Food store. I never tip cause I pay $38.00 for a groom. It's more if you want a scissor cut. That's a lot of money, I think. For a while when I went to pay (in the store, not in the groomer's area) the cashier would ask if you wanted to leave the groomer a tip! That really ticked me off. If I want to leave a tip, I will, I don't need someone asking me. A cashier at a restaurant doesn't ask if you're going to tip your server!!!! I've been going to this place for years and almost left cause of that. They finally quit doing it - I figure they got enough complaints about it. When I take a pup in just for a trim or nails or something, I might give her a couple of bucks. (sometimes she doesn't charge me for the nails if I'm bringing another dog in at the same time.) Anyhow, now I am starting to do a lot of that at home to save money, so I will start to tip myself! :D omega |
i never thought about tipping i only pay $10 my groomer is my cousin's wife so i dont think she gives me a discount but it doesnt seem much compared to other ppls |
I tip my groomer 8.00 on a 22.00 cut because she is so reasonable and I trust her. |
I just love these threads , as a groomer for almost 30 years I can tell you that your groomer deserves a tip. If you like her and she treats your dog nice why not show her how much you appreciate her. I have gotten tips anywhere from 0 to $100.00 but a nice tip is about $5.00 to $10.00. I can also tell you that the Holiday season is coming up and we get so busy but all of my great tipping clients will always be taken care of even if I have to work extra long hours. I do understand that some people can not afford to tip, but then it is nice to hear how much they do appreciate the job I do for them. I have clients that come as far as two hours away just to get their dogs groomed. You would think they could find a groomer closer. Trust is a big issue, we just can't leave our babies with just anyone...... This Holiday season make up for the year if you have not been tipping with a nice check or cash in a Christmas card. P.S. you should never feel you have to tip, a tip is for a job well done!!!! |
I usually tip $5.00 per puppy. It's $35.00 for a puppy cut that includes nail trimming. They don't like to have to comb-out knots, so it's more if they do that and sometimes they won't do it at all. Most of the time it's just a quick, close trim. |
My groomer is pretty special.... she actually lets me call her late in the day and if she is almost done with her last client I go there and get Shelby & Seymour trimmed. I always give them their baths before we go.... because I guess I am too fussy as to what shampoo they use....... but also I LOVE combing that silky hair!!! :) She charges me $5 per dog to trim their ear-tips, paws (including nails), scissors the ends to even them up. and of course trims the "pee pee" areas. I always give her $20 regardless...... 2 dogs....... the extra special treatment.... What a gem! I know that she doesn't do this for everone....... I really feel extra lucky... so I try to be generous at Christmas time as well.:animal-pa |
2 Attachment(s) I can't believe the prices in USA !!! I pay $ 70.00 and ALWAYS tip the groomer at least $10.00. Maybe I should shop around for a cheaper one but again I trust her and she does a wonderful job with Piccolo. |
