Shaved Belly I have a 7 month old little boy that still seems to get some pee on himself when going potty. I just recently took him to the groomer and asked her to shave his belly some what high so it would not soak in his fur any more but she barely shaved him there. Does anyone else do this with their boys? If so what is a good shaver to get so I can try to do it myself? Please keep in mind I am not a professional groomer and I just want something cheaper and simple to take a little off the belly and maybe his bum if I get brave. Oh also does any one have belly pictures so I can see how high I should shave? Thanks! |
Tiger has never gone to the groomer although those parts you mention sure needs some attention. Let me know how it goes as perhaps I can do the same :) |
so funny that me and my husband was just talking about doing this for kirby. i might just do it my self w the electric clippers. |
Yes you should groom the belly, specially if in full coat.....a mustache trimmer is the safest, Walmart carries WHAL's is under $20.00 and can be used to trim the paws, ears and bum too! hope this helps |
Thanks Kimberly - I am on my way to Wal-mart now - I will let you know how it goes. Wish me luck!! :) |
I've been trying my hand at grooming (Ok, Ok, it's only been once!) but the video that I bought said to shave up to where their cord was attached. I think that I ended up shaving to his ribs! At least he's stayed alot cleaner. |
I trim my Busters hair for him. My sister bought a Wahl from Walmart for her dog and I use it. It works great. Its purple too. I shaved Busters belly cuz he does get pee on himself too. |

I too got a little mustache/beard trimmer and keep Cooper's tummy and privates shaved down. I was a little nervous at first but it went pretty smoothly. I was afraid I might nick him, but that hasn't been an issue at all! |

Okay so I said I would report back to you after trying to trim Murphy up. Well..........I have no pictures because the shaver really did not work very well at all. Since I could not find the Wahl one I just got some generic shaver and it basically sucked. I think I am going to try to go to Target tonight on my way home see if they have the Wahl if not I will have to order off line it looks like. So any who.....no good news for you since it really did not go very well - ha, ha! Is this Tigers first grooming experience? I have already had Murphy groomed and it went pretty well. I get him cut semi-short since I can not handle his pee on his coat - yuck! Good luck with Tigers grooming experience - will need to see plenty of pictures when you get back. :) Oh I meant to tell you take a picture of what you want if you have one that way the groomer has no reason to mess up - that’s what I did and it  |
I always do the grooming of my Yorkies . |

I need to buy a clipper too so let me know what you think of the Wahl when you find it. A groomer told me to buy a Peanut from Sallys (don't know the brand) but I haven't gotten out there yet. I'll let you know when I get one. She's one of my Mom's groomers and she gave me a whole lesson on grooming yorkies. If you want, we could have a little grooming party sometime and I'll show you what she showed me. |
