I shave both my boys bellies. I shave from thier bum to their around the front legs area. It saves alot of cleaning time otherwise I would have smelly pee boys all the time. I shave the bum area also to keep from getting dingle berries :D |

That’s what the breeder had that sold me Murphy and it was an awesome shaver. I know for sure they have them at the Sally’s in West Melbourne next to Publix. I saw it in there the other day and thought I would try this cheap one first. The peanut is by Wahl and is around $40 - $50 bucks - not so bad. The only thing is it is very powerful and strong so you have to be careful. I would LOVE to come see what you learned from the groomer since I only like to get Murphy trimmed every now and than but like to keep his other areas shaved up more frequently. Thanks for the offer and I will call you when I get back in town. Maybe we can set something up.:) |

My groomer shaves Bear all the way up to his "armpits" it looks and works great for us. I went to Walmart and bought a set of Whal clippers (in the pet department) today. It came in a kit; it's actually a little black plastic case, including an instructional DVD, which I haven't watched it yet. The direction booklet gives tips on grooming horses, cows, and dogs! I opened the box and examined everything then I got scared... What if I hurt him? I'd die! Then I'd be furious with myself. I really, really, want to groom my own dog. I can scissor the body and legs, I think, but I need something besides scissors to do his belly, bum, and the bridge of his nose though. |
So far, I have been less afraid of the trimmer than scissors... Just me..I put the trimmer against my skin and reassured myself that it wouldn't hurt him. That said.... I got my Yorkie at six months old and have made little trims here and there and we are both getting used to the experience. The groomer did shave his belly up to his armpits and his bottom for me.. For some reason, he has been good at the groomer and been a royal "turd" for me. But I am persistent. We shall both learn...together. |
Here's an update: I went to Sally's and bought a Peanut. It is actually a Wahl as you probably already knew but I didn't. I LOVE it!!! It is so much better than what I was using it's not even funny. Everything went faster and I did both boys bellies without any problem. Quote:
