OMG. She looks like a Chihuahua... 2 Attachment(s) The groomer told me that I did such a bad job at brushing my 3-month-old Serena, so there were a lot of mats... They scheduled me to come in the following week to shave her, but I was able to remove all of the really bad mats... and I asked if I still had to shave her... They said I HAD to. And, being the trusting/naive first-time puppy owner that I am... I let them do it. I feel so embarrassed for her. :( She looks like a Chihuahua!!!!! -_-' How long does 3-month-old puppy fur take to regrow?? >_< |
Hi and Welcome to YT! Aw! A very cute Chihuahua! Make sure you brush/comb down to the skin. Her hair will regrow quickly... 2-3 months. A T shirt may help her feel more comfortable... |
First of all, she is still adorable. Second of all, I would find a new groomer. Never have I had a groomer tell me that I had to do something. Third, welcome to YT! |
welcome to YT, poor lil Serena does look like a lil Chihuahua, but such a cute lil Chihuahua. I agree with KJC, it's t-shirt time, and I am sure she may feel a bit chilly. She is a lil cutie pie, with fur, she is absolutely adorable. You'll be amazed at how fast her hair will grow. |
That little face is too cute for words! I definitely would not take her back to that groomer! I'm an assessive brusher. Their hair gets tangled very easily. Especially if you dress them. We had to shave my Gus down after he was mauled. My poor baby, his hair was long too. If I remember correctly it took like 4 months to grow back to a fairly decant length. |
Are you in Korea? That's the short style over there...they have varying degrees of lengths. Don't worry, her hair will grow out very nicely, it takes about 6 months for 4-6" of hair to grow. I think she looks adorable & it will look even better when grown out. |
It's not that unusual for puppies to have their puppy coat shaved, it has happen to many Yorkie owners. Puppy hair mats easily and first time owners aren't aware that they have to keep up on it. Adult hair is usually silkier and matting isn't as bad. Joey has very silky adult hair, but as a puppy he was always matting and many people consider it much more humane to shave rather that break out every mat. Try using a detangler like Cowboy magic on mats, or many people recommend corn starch, it leave the hair slippery and you work a mat between you thumb and index finger in a circular motion. Don't get mats wet, they are even more difficult to get out once they are wet. A mat is usually hair that has fallen out mixed in with a tangle, so brushing every day is important, start with a wide tooth brush and finish with a comb. I have several sizes of combs and use the narrow bladed comb last. Even though she doesn't need brushing now, brush every day to get her use to it. My boys wear their coat shaved, but have longer hair on the legs, tail and face and I love the look. I agree with the others, her face is adorable, and I'd get her a cute pink sweater! |
She is adorable, and the short cut really shows off her big beautiful eyes. It probably was a good thing to get rid of some of the puppy fluff hair and certainly the mats. Even though it is shocking, it is more comfortable to shave than to pull. Now you have a choice, to brush and maintain, or to keep her in a puppy cut or to shave. I went through all 3 styles with Tiki, full coat, puppy cut, and now shave the body but leave face and legs full. I absolutely love that look, but still have to brush the legs and face a little or it can tangle too. BTW, you could learn to do the grooming yourself and that way you can get the look you want (sort of); it's not that hard. As the others have said, it's a great time to let her wear a t-shirt or dress. |
1 Attachment(s) Aww bless her heart. She looks cute. Yes it regrows in about three months. Get a little t shirt for her until it grows back. You need to brush every part of your pup. I first use a comb then a brush. I was in your shoes. I left Galen with a friend who was suppose to brush him and I ended up shaving him. . . . |

She is absolutely precious!! During the summer when it is so unbelieveably hot and humid in Houston Texas, I shave all my babies down and keep them cut short! I love the longer hair on legs, tail and face like Nancy1999's boys.....they do indeed look adorable in that cut! Your baby girl also looks adorable with her new do....I would let it grow out on her legs, on that toooooooooo cute face, and her tail, and keep her body reasonably short, 1/2 - 1 inch long....much easier to care for and I think they are more comfortable in hot climates! |
Your baby is adorable! Don't worry, her hair will grow back. |
1 Attachment(s) This is his coat now. So don't worry. . . The only thing positive I got out of it . .. I know my grand always said look at the right side. . . . Is I didn't have to deal with the puppy coat ! lol |
