Best place to buy rainbow loom rubberband for top-knots. So, as I was searching for these bands I hit the motherlode on ebay! Here is a link to the page for the items that have free shipping. rainbow loom | eBay |
Meijer has them and so,do drug stores like walgreens. I like the regular no snag ones at Meijer better. They are skinnier and a bit smaller around, easier to handle . They also, have the bendy pinch flex barrettes that are fabulous for a break from top knot rubber bands. |

No link , find in beauty section Meijer |
It seems like most stores sell the rainbow bands, usually in the kids section, toys, crafts, or near the registers. The ebay prices aren't bad, a lot of stores sell them for about that price but sometimes you can get them for about half of that. I paid $1 for 300 but it's not worth going out of your way for a few bucks. |
I have a Q about these bands...what's the measurement of these? Are they bigger than 3/8"? I use 1/4" for Turbo bc he doesn't like it when I have to wrap it around more than 2 x's. How well do they hold the hair? |
I think they're 1/2" in diameter. I twist the band 2-3x (3-4 loops around the pony tail), the extra twist is for days when Lola wears a bow on a barrette. |

How do you do Zoey's hair with the barrettes? Every time I try it Lola's hair flops around. |
Amazon has them at pretty good prices. Sometimes nomorerack.com will have them. Some are stretchier than others, just depends on type and brand. If you don't want colorful ones you can get a good size bag at horse feed stores. They are usually only black or brown though. |
It depends on how much hair they have and the size and weight of the barrette. I found some tiny flex ones at target you can grab the hair between the eyes . That is what bothers them the most . The bigger one take more hair. Zoeys hair is getting some length to it and thickness so it's easy to grab a bunch and brush it right straight back on top of her head and fasten it in . I know what your doing, I did that too, then it does flop forward . Bring it back and kinda " lean back" with it then snap. I also like the barrettes with the plastic back. Keep looking... |
I cannot get Huey's hair to stay in the bendy pinch barrettes. I have tried several sizes, but his hair always slides out of the loose end. It is really silky, fine hair, but he has a fair amount of it and even the bigger ones don't seem to work, 1 head shake and they fly across the room...I've decided the tiny cloth scrunchies or a braid are the only way with him, but I do use those tiny rubberbands for the braids. |
I get mine through Lainee. And I got a great scissor that cuts them. It has a little hook on the end. http://www.laineeltd.com/cgi-bin/lai...diumbands.html |
This weekend I find out my granddaughter has loads of these! She brought them over and she and I have a new hobby together. She didn't have a clue how to make the bracelets, so off to YouTube we went. There is a 8y/o on there that is fabulous at making them. We managed to make 3 successfully in two days. It took me about 5 tries (almost to the end then I would make a mistake) before I got the first one. Now I know how to do 3 different patterns, and she learned one. It was lots of fun! |
