Best place to buy rainbow loom rubberband for top-knots. So, as I was searching for these bands I hit the motherlode on ebay! Here is a link to the page for the items that have free shipping. rainbow loom | eBay |
Meijer has them and so,do drug stores like walgreens. I like the regular no snag ones at Meijer better. They are skinnier and a bit smaller around, easier to handle . They also, have the bendy pinch flex barrettes that are fabulous for a break from top knot rubber bands. |

No link , find in beauty section Meijer |
It seems like most stores sell the rainbow bands, usually in the kids section, toys, crafts, or near the registers. The ebay prices aren't bad, a lot of stores sell them for about that price but sometimes you can get them for about half of that. I paid $1 for 300 but it's not worth going out of your way for a few bucks. |
I have a Q about these bands...what's the measurement of these? Are they bigger than 3/8"? I use 1/4" for Turbo bc he doesn't like it when I have to wrap it around more than 2 x's. How well do they hold the hair? |
I think they're 1/2" in diameter. I twist the band 2-3x (3-4 loops around the pony tail), the extra twist is for days when Lola wears a bow on a barrette. |

How do you do Zoey's hair with the barrettes? Every time I try it Lola's hair flops around. |
Amazon has them at pretty good prices. Sometimes nomorerack.com will have them. Some are stretchier than others, just depends on type and brand. If you don't want colorful ones you can get a good size bag at horse feed stores. They are usually only black or brown though. |
It depends on how much hair they have and the size and weight of the barrette. I found some tiny flex ones at target you can grab the hair between the eyes . That is what bothers them the most . The bigger one take more hair. Zoeys hair is getting some length to it and thickness so it's easy to grab a bunch and brush it right straight back on top of her head and fasten it in . I know what your doing, I did that too, then it does flop forward . Bring it back and kinda " lean back" with it then snap. I also like the barrettes with the plastic back. Keep looking... |
I cannot get Huey's hair to stay in the bendy pinch barrettes. I have tried several sizes, but his hair always slides out of the loose end. It is really silky, fine hair, but he has a fair amount of it and even the bigger ones don't seem to work, 1 head shake and they fly across the room...I've decided the tiny cloth scrunchies or a braid are the only way with him, but I do use those tiny rubberbands for the braids. |
I get mine through Lainee. And I got a great scissor that cuts them. It has a little hook on the end. http://www.laineeltd.com/cgi-bin/lai...diumbands.html |
This weekend I find out my granddaughter has loads of these! She brought them over and she and I have a new hobby together. She didn't have a clue how to make the bracelets, so off to YouTube we went. There is a 8y/o on there that is fabulous at making them. We managed to make 3 successfully in two days. It took me about 5 tries (almost to the end then I would make a mistake) before I got the first one. Now I know how to do 3 different patterns, and she learned one. It was lots of fun! |

:thankyou2 for the band rec! I got my rainbow loom (variety pack) yesterday & they're awesome! It doesn't snap like reg bands, so Turbo wasn't scared of it & let me wrap it around 4 x's. It holds the hair very well & I didn't need to re-do it this morning. Will fix it later this afternoon b4 we go out for walkies. I really like it, it's stretchy but not like latex free band stretchy, it's different in a good way. It's not bulky looking either, they're great! |

My adopted boy of 3 months was shaved , his face hair was short. I am letting his crew hair cut grow out to see what his true color looks like, (his shoulders to mid. of back is black, then silver grey to his tail) when the hair on his face was cut, it was cut short, now 3 months later his face looks like "wild thing" I had some barrettes from my girls (forgotten when I donated everything to a no kill shelter, before I adopted Cody I saw them on a shelf, got so upset that they did not go to shelter where needy dogs could have used them. Good for me they slipped by me) so I open the bin that had the barrettes (was a longgggg time since I even looked at them, the lil girl I had just put down never used them) looked to see what I can use to keep his hair out of his eyes (face hair is so long I can't see his eyes) and found a package of what I guess you are calling bendy pinch flex barrettes. so I brush up his hair and clip the tiny barrette on, lol, all hell broke loose, Cody rolled all over, around the floor like captured wild thing, pawing at his head lol, the barrette ended up at the top of his hair lope sided lol, so off it came. I guess the prev owner didn't do a top knot or anything with that hair, think I'll try those color bands, they are tighter then barrettes. Until I get to the craft store poor thing will have his hair in his eyes. |
Acmoore has the loom bands for $1 for a few days this week and then they go up to 4/$5, regularly $2. I think they're packs of 300. |

My granddaughter has this kit and I can tell you that the bands are quite a bit larger than a regular grooming band and not as thick. I know that toplinepet.com now sells the latex free grooming bands along with others. The bands in the kit mentioned here are OK but it does take quite a few more turns around the topknot to get them on. The smaller bands only require two or three turns at the most. |
