I had the same experience just the other day but it wasn't with petsmart it was with a local groomer. Benny is 9 months old, he had very long hair all over, I took him there to get just a trim nothing else. Well when I went back to get him he looks just like yours does, I was so upset with them not listening to what I told them about just giving him a trim. The owners granddaughter kept apologizing about how she cut him but that doesn't put his hair back on. Needless to say I will never go back there again and I will try and trim his hair myself. On a better note, it's just hair and will grow back, it will just take awhile. |
Oh my, I wouldn't have believed that was the same puppy LOL. Luckily, it's just hair and it will grow back. When I got my first yorkie, I didn't realize how quickly they matted. I had to trim her down to nothing...although she looked like a little adorable lamb. It grew back and now I comb instead of brush. She so did not look like a yorkie with all her hair gone but who doesn't love a puppy regardless of what hair they have? I think it's hard to find a great groomer, just like it's hard to find a great person to cut your own hair :) |
dog I will not trust groomers at the petshops. They razor burned my last dog so I have a groomer come to my home where I can stand there and watch what she does and help out. Please be careful who grooms your precious Yorkies. I get so man when I hear of a groomer abusing a dog. You just never know what goes on when you leave them. I am sorry for your pups experience but your dog looks so cute and that fur will grow back. I am thankful she didn't hurt your dog. Hope this info helps. |
We do adoptions at our local petsmart every weekend right outside the viewing window. While the groomers are very nice I would never let them do anything except bath, brush and nails. The groomers are allowed only a certain period of time per dog so frequently take shortcuts. My yorkies go to one of two private groomers but I will take my golden wuth strict instructions not to cut except between pads of feet. You wouldn't believe how many people shave their goldens. I also take my golden and my saint when I had her to petco for the furinator treatment. Pet smart will tell you that they will usethe furinator for a certain period of time. Petco will groom until they're done. |
I prefer the short cuts and poor Vinnie's pic's are similar to those...I never realized how dramatic the change is....WOW...I think he looks gorgeous...it will grow back in a a couple months. Are his ears floppy now? |
Poor baby is nekked! Sorry this happened to you, I went to petsmart once and my poor baby came back looking like a square, all angular cuts, it was horrible. Hair tends to grow back pretty quick. After that experience I became interested in learning how to groom myself, I am happy I learned, it always comes out just like I want it and if I mess up I only have myself to blame. Hope you have better luck next time. Maybe put a shirt on him in the mean time? |
1 Attachment(s) He still looks adorable. That first cut is always so dramatic. Having been one of those people who cried in the parking lot after each of my pup's first grooming appointments, I found this picture very funny. Thankfully, it's just hair and it will grow back. |
What a cutie, I like BOTH pics! Seeing as your pup is only 14 weeks old, he only has 14 weeks of hair growth. When they are born it is very short -- shorter than it is now after the hair cut. So probably in 10 or 11 weeks it will be back to the same length it was before the cut. |
It will grow!!!! He is still a sweetheart. I feel for you. Ugghhhh!!! That is why I cut my boy myself. |
dog These groomers at these pet stores seem to need instruction. Today I was in Petsmart and a darling dog was on the table. The groomer cut a skin tag that was on the dog and it was bleeding. I felt so bad for that dog and the owner. I have a groomer that I know and trust and I will never drop my dog off and let some inexperienced groomer try to groom my dog. Just do not trust them. Be careful where you groom your precious Yorkie. |
Wow..sorry for your troubles...but no matter what HICCUPS IS ADORABLE!!! |
All groomers are not bad...word of mouth will tell you who is good and who is not. I love my groomer, and she loves Winston almost as much as I do. I encourage everyone to get to know the groomer you pick, ask questions, be involved. |
As a Yorkie owner, I see I'm.not the only one who has experienced that traumatic first cut when it was suppose to be a snip.. But then again some hairdressers don't get right either.. Scissor happy syndrome.... My baby went to Petco for a snip to get rid off straggled hair, when I picked him up he looked like a shaved chichihuaua.... I think I spelled it right lol.... I was ever so pissed hasn't been back since... |
