| Fur growth Since this is my first yorkie how long will her fur grow? The vet said she's going to be a short haired yorkie and no more than 4 lbs. Last edited by bell2dan; 06-18-2013 at 09:17 AM. |

| She is a cutie. I wonder why your vet thinks she will be short haired (which is not a Yorkie trait)? Usually the best indicator of coat is to look at the parents, although traits from previous generations can pop up.

YT 2000 Club Member | She looks pretty furry to me. I wouldn't worry about it! How old is she? She sure is a cutie!

| Speed of hair growth varies according to genetics and environmental factors. Silk tends to grow slower than cotton coats, but show dogs who have their hair wrapped can grow a full coat in their first year. At 11 weeks, your baby has "puppy coat" which tends to tangle easily and can be difficult to determine if it will be silk or cotton. Some of the fun of a Yorkie is wondering how they will mature.

| Could the vet mean she will have a fragie coat? Roxy is the only one of mine who grows a long and healthy coat. Cozy and Lucy's coat get broken off when they get length.
