Wooden Pin Brush vs Madan

I've been reading some threads about wooden pin brushes & combs. I'm just curious...what is the advantage/difference of the wooden pin brush vs. the Madan pin brush?

I currently use the Madan & finish with a boar bristle. I don't own a wooden pin brush & I wonder if I'm missing out

I use both! I like to brush out before a bath with the wooden brush or sometimes at night before bed. I mist with a grooming spray and then brush out but I use my madan pin brush or preferably my cc pin brush when I blow them dry after a bath.

Do the cc wooden pin brush & the madan work the coat the same way? I'm just curious if the wooden pins on the brush treat the coat differently...is the wood beneficial to the coat somehow?

I've heard so many great things about the cc wooden pin brush...I'll probably end up buying one eventually But I was just wondering if they both basically do the same thing.

i like the wooden pin brush because for oscar's coat it seems to work best.the wooden pins seem to glide thru his coat whereas the regular pin brush seems to pull on his hair and he hates it..
he does not like wire pins , i think it bothers him..

theoretically the wooden pin brush and the madan proabably do work the same way. for me it is mostly a matter of preference to use the wooden brush and the wooden pin comb...

I personally can't live without either, Each has their own purpose and job, at least in my grooming routine. Another item I cannot live without is my Madan steel tail comb!! I lost my first one and went bonkers until my replacement came in the mail. Thank goodness for Jenny (Mimimomo) and her website toplinepet.com . I have a question about the Madan brushes (to anyone that has one) - how do you decide/know which "cushion" to get?

I personally think there is a need for both. The brush I reach for most often is the CC wooden one, so much that I got a large one after using the small one so much. I have the CC gold pin brush, too. I got a Madan brush from Jenny at toplinepet.com, and that gets through mats better than the wooden pin brush does. The wooden pin seems so gentle, though, and Katie likes the massage effect that the wooden brush has. Her hair is very silky, but it is also so thick. I first do a quick brush with the CC boars head/nylon brush, and then I follow up by line brushing with the wooden brush. Katie has so much hair that I brush her hair in layers. The Madan brush works great on more stubborn tangles. I would also highly recommend the Madan mustache comb from Jenny and a grooming comb from her, as well. The mustache comb is so similar to the CC butter comb #6 ( i use them interchangeably), but the Madan is a third the cost of the CC one. I love the wooden pin brush on my own hair, as well.

Jenny (Mimimomo) helped me decide after discussing the type hair my two have. I have had my brush for almost 3 years now

Jenny is so wonderful to work with. She helped me a lot to figure out which brush was best for Katie. The Madan combs that I also got from her are really great too.

Does anyone know which works best on a curly cotton coat?

I bought the light blue Maden brush for the soft cotton coat on one of my girls. It's been two years since and I love the brush so much. It really made grooming fun and pleasant again. I'm very happy with the Maden range because the steel pins are smooth and they glide through the hair very easily. The softness of the cushion allows me to brush out almost anything without hurting the dog.
