Excess Grooming Products?
 
I'm inundated with Yorkie grooming products that I've purchased and either tired of because the bottles last so long on 10 inches of :yorkieg: body or I didn't care for the scent or I don't really need the product/ doesn't work like I expected, not great for a cottony coat etc.

What does everyone do with these products? I know I could dispose of them (wasteful) or donate to a shelter. What about an informal product "sample" exchange?

I can't wrap my head around the logistics, maybe you all have suggestions? I was thinking like a 3 oz travel sized bottle (so both the recipient and the giver know what to expect and to regulate shipping costs)

Might be a great way to get to experience products from companies who don't sell sample sizes without the commitment of a full bottle purchase.

Thoughts??

I am a groomer product junkie myself. I have lots even after I have given lots away to friends or family. I am game if we can work ths all out!

Michelle has already sent me two shampoos in the past that she isn't using that are good for Curri's sensitive skin and a sample of another.

That may have helped her clutter a little but I, too have some to give away :D:D:D

I know shinja has her share of collars and harnesses and bags.....not sure on the grooming products, but I assume so :wink:

I've got some products I don't care for either. Too florally smelling. I like the more fruity scents. Can't say as to any product is better or worse for Uni's coat though. They all seem to be doing about the same.

How can we implement this? Suggestions??

I think maybe we should list what we have and about how many oz of it. Each person put them in the 3 oz travel size bottles or sprayers. You can request as many as you want, as long as you send out the same. For ex I want three products, I have to send out three. Doesn't all have to be from and to the same person though. I guess a bit of the honor systems gonna have to be assumed here.

See here is a perfect example. I love floral but not wild about fruity. :D

That was kind of my vision. I did this (in person) with a plant exchange. sort of a one to one thing even though values aren't exact, the products are still going unused as is.

I think your original idea to donate to shelters would be wonderful. You know they can always use them and appreciate them and that way you would not be mailing some to someone that might not like what you have either and you would still be in the same situation. Shelters are not going to be as picky as we are. lol!!

This sounds really interesting.
But would it be possible for those of us overseas to join in, I'm in England, not everyone on Yorkie Talk lives in America?

We often read suggestions on here for things that are very difficult for us to get hold of. We also have products that are different here from ones mentioned.

I realise the logistics would not be so easy & you may want to keep it local.

Giving to shelters sounds a really good idea too. I do give lots of things to our local ones, mainly blankets & towels, hadn't considered them wanting grooming stuff.

Since we would do this basically for the price of shipping and the travel container, I don't see why it wouldn't work. Provided you are willing to pay a little more for the shipping :p

Might be an excellent way for UK and beyond to try a few new grooming products, and also for US to try YOURS :wink:. I wasn't going to bother listing what I had because there seemed little interest, but if there is, we can try it :D

I still want to participate! I can't make a list right now though..all the grooming products are in the bottom cabinet next to my kitchen sink....since I threw my back out, I can't bend that deeply:D

IOD conditioner (same)
IOD conditioning spray (same)
samples of IOD Violet and Seamist Samp/cond (1oz size only)

Crystal Eye Tear Stain Remover 4oz

These I just have small amounts of:

Finishing Touch Oatmeal Enriched Shampoo for Long/Med coats
Finishing Touch Every Coat Conditioner
Finishing Touch Puppy Shampoo

The sad thing about the list is I probably have more. :(. I'm a total product junkie! :eek:

Uspa does some flat rate to England boxes but shipping unlabled liquids is provlematic these days.

I sent a friend there pickled green beans last years for Christmas...I hope thed
dparcell inspector enjoyed them!
