Didn't you say the woman said the father was a poodle mix? Well then it is very possible the the father was mixed with chi as well. That is the obvious reason for her looking like both. And unless you plan on showing or breeding her don't waste money on a DNA test, you love your puppy, then you love your puppy and thats it. I'm sorry but saying you guys say chi and the woman says poodle makes you sound kind of slow, you should know a dog can be more than one breed when a woman says "poodle mix" it is self explanatory. |

my gidget coat was coarse but i used hair coloring conditioner on her then gardne leave in conditioner and it changed her hair! it was silky, it was soft and it was flowing =) |
I know that this has already been said a handful of times & agreed upon, but she definitely looks like a Chihuahua/Yorkshire terrier mix (maybe even other breeds, considering you said that dad had poodle in him). I fostered two Chi/Yorkie mixes and it took until they were almost six months old to have a longer coat (sometimes it never happens). It took a lot more time for their hair to grow out. I'm not saying she is a mixed or anything, but that is just what she looks like and that is what my experience has been with the coating mix. She is absolutely adorable, though with or without long hair :D (I didn't realize this was an older posting, whoops) |
my poor baby i have the exact same problem please help :eek::animal-pa:aimeeyork |
Yorkie Hair Differs from pup to pup...don't worry. 1 Attachment(s) Don't worry. My Yorkie girls hair is the exact same as yours. Her coloring is a little different. She has very typical yorkie markings. Our pups have what is considered a "silky coat" it's straight, fine and shiny, which is exactly what they are supposed to have according to the AKC. It will grow in. Just takes more time than the wirey cottony coat. My girl is a 7th generation AKC pedigree. So I have no doubts :) don't be discouraged. She's ADORABLE! |
I'm wondering if the father is mixed the mother full yorkie how in the heck did they get the puppy akc registered? It maybe that the puppy will inherit the hair texture and growth from the mix part not the yorkie part. But anyway what a cute little puppy. |
Just wanted to day to the OP....if u still get notifications or are still around would love to see a pic of how your girl grew up....it's been a few years ;-) |
This thread is over three years old. The OP hasn't posted on YT since 2011. |
I have the same problem with my guy and he is purebred bout parent are also he will be a year in may and im a little worried but i love hom to death, she beautiful anyway give it some time i guess |
? So I am curious to know if her hair grew out? |
I know its an old thread, but our Chance was sold as a purebred Yorkie, had papers with lineage, and we still had doubts due to his coloring and hair texture- he lived to 14 and a half and was loved every day of his life...our new guy came right out of the dictionary...and we love him exactly the same! |
