Learning to groom questions... Hi all, I'm thinking that I want to learn to groom Duke. I have been ok with using scissors to trim around his face in between groomer visits but I want to try with his body also. I would like to know if anyone can rec'd what type of clippers I would need? I read in the original how to post that I should use #40 for the ears but what about the body if I want a simple puppy cut? Also, how long does it typically take? I'm thinking that it will take me a while the first time but just not sure how long. Duke can be still if I chose to groom him after a play session where he is just completely tired, is that a good idea? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated by me and Duke :) Thanks, Tam |
Learning to groom at home is very rewarding. Here is a thread about the leading clipper brands: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-clippers.html My boys are in full coat, so I cannot advise on puppy cuts. Grooming when your dog is relaxed is a good idea. Take your time and work with confidence. Dogs tend to react to anxiety. You already have experience with scissors around the face, so you and your dog should be just fine. Good luck! |
