Chris rat for chunking parting like wrapping or sectioning. Maddan is best for topline, more defined parts. It's not the Maddan comb, it's the rat tail. Same rat tail on Sallys comb. It's not much of a comb, is it? It's more like a pin. It's the flexibility we like. The opposite of what you get in the CC comb. You won't be w/o that comb, will you?

You're going to laugh when I tell you what I use for parting the topline.......a knitting needle.

I thought a sewing needle. ;););) Knitting needle? Nobody can use a knitting needle. Well, you don't have to worry about anyone picking up your tool. And if you forget it you have one up too b/c you can buy one anywhere. So maybe we should take note. What gave you that approach?

It's been used for years by exhibitors.....gives a nice straight, clean part.

Does Kaz use one? I thought he was doing some type of knitting thing with one. He was probably it, a plastic one. Don't you think most people use what they are taught with?

I use a plastic one....

Not, sure if most people use what they were taught with. My mentor has a knitting needle in her grooming case, parts with a rat tail......I've used several things, but found I can really sperate the hairs with a bit more precision with a knitting needle, once I get the part done to what I think is perfect, I use a bit of Plush Puppy sit stay along each side of the part to keep it place.

Initially I pictured a metal one. Can't muscle that one. But the plastic one makes more sense. I've seen him w/ plastic ones. I thought they were used for something else. Still could be. Poodle man. We'll never know.

Pin brushes are wonderful for the ring, or when a coat has been thoroughly detangled, I use a CC Gold, Madan, and several others, dependent on the coat texture.....but, not for daily brushing.
I'm going to try the brush on my hair tonight. :)

Do you like the wooden handle for the CC combs? Should I order one?

I don't have one and have never felt the need for one. I have small to average sized hands for a woman and the comb is comfortable to me as is. I thing the handle would just get in my way. I would recommend you not get one for now. If you decide you'd like to have one you can always order it with something else later. (I ordered as I decided I "needed" something, so I paid way too much in shipping. :p)

Thank you for the advice on the handles. I'm going to order the comb you recommended immediately, but the CC boar bristle brush is going to have to wait until my doggy luxuries budget is replenished ;).

The Mason Pearson boar bristle brushes that Mary recommended are somewhere around the $70 - $100 + range, depending on size (based on what I saw on the internet). Maybe someday in the future I'll splurge.

Hey guys.....Remember I show, so I do spend a bit more on grooming products. I only recommend what I use and explain the differences....that doesn't mean you have to go out and buy everything based on my recommendation.......The CC Boar Bristle is fine....I just prefer the Mason Pearson one.
