As a groomer I tell you that no question is rude. I think you should get exactly what you want an you are paying for. I would take a picture with notes and the groomer should get very close to what the picture looks like it is a little difficult since you are not looking at all angles. The picture is a good idea because most groomers have there own idea of the cut you are asking for. If you ask for a teddy face, a puppy cut to some is a baby face or something else so pictures are good.

I will deff. take that into consideration. I feel like i wasted alot of money on Ella's last appointments b/c i didn't get even close to what i wanted. Now all i have to do is find pictures of what i want. People who can groom their own animals are lucky. I wish i had that talent.

Well I took my dog to get groomed and had the same luck you did after spending 75.00. So 2 months later I ended up in California in a pet grooming school. :D Its the best investment I ever made now I do it and on my own time. So if I get upset at anyone its me :D

Check on craigslist, with the current economy many groomers are doing home visits, its the same price and you can supervise the cut!! I prefer home visits!! :thumbup::thumbup:

Yes I have seen lots of home groomers on craigslist. Maybe you should try one of them.

Very good idea! Perhaps just be honest and ask if there is a day/time maybe midweek that they are slow so you can stay. I would say that if you are very calm your dog should be calm. Also, maybe you could tell the groomer that if your yorkie gives them a difficult time bc you are there then you will be willing to pay extra. I'd be willing to pay more and TIP WELL to be happy with the grooming. Just my opinion but I'd rather do that and feel comfortable.

I've always thought about going to grooming school. That's deff. one way to know you'll get exactly what you want. I just feel like i wouldn't be able to make her as calm as other people could b/c she knows me and she knows what she can get away with, with me.

Just a word of caution....Make sure whoever you go to, they DON'T use a cage dryer (of any kind, even if they say its safe). Also, remind the groomer to be careful so your Yorkie doesn't fall off the grooming table. With the leash around it's neck, he could hang himself. I've read where some tables have arms with a quick release in case the pet jumps or falls. Even the quick release is no guarantee your pet won't get hurt. Find out if they sedate. Ask if he/she is licensed. Accidents do happen.
I've read all this here on YT.
I'm changing groomers to one that will let me watch. A good groomer will give you access.
If there's a problem, then I'll find someone else.

Really? I've never heard of that before. I think it would be great for bigger dogs, but a Yorkie falling from a height like that would be bad. If your groomer is attentive like they should be, if your pup jumps they should be able to grab it immediately. I had a little Maltese jump straight off into the air with no warning. I'm not allowed to go more than an arm's length away so I scooped him up mid air under his belly. It was actually kind of funny, he looked like Super Dog lol

I never even thought to ask the groomer i was taking Ella to if she used cage dryers. After seeing what they do i will deff. be asking. It's such a horrible thing, and cage dryers make me quite angry b/c of the danger of them. And this sedating scares me to death. Would it be possible that they would sedate her w/o telling me then she'd wake up, i'd pick her up and not even know she'd been sedated? That just sounds wrong to me. But i will ask about that wherever i take her this time. =]

Exactly. If the groomer is being attentive, there should be no injuries to your pup. They should be able to prevent any harm. =]
