How often you bathe your Furbaby? I am asking for a friend. She has a Yorkie with sensitive skin and she wants to know how often to bathe her and with what. My poochie gets a bath atleast every 2 weeks, but she doesn't want to over-do things and make her condition worse. Any suggestions on products or other wise would be greatly appreciated. (Hugs) |
I bathe once a week and for sensative skin, I would use an oatmeal shampoo. |
Every 1-2 weeks. Usually somewhere in the middle. |
Thank you both. I told her in between what I normally do. Do you advise using Aveeno for people? I have heard of people to use it, but is it safe? |
I give Zeus a bath every Sunday. Not sure about Aveno but there are plenty of sensitive dog shampoos that you could use. |
I'm new to Yorkies, but my cousin bathes her Yorkie weekly. I'm fostering a Yorkie right now & I've had her for 1 week. I bathe my smooth mini dachshund once every 3 months. |

I bathe my girl every Thursday! What a routine we have! And we both have a Weenie dog. How much does yours weigh (the weenie) I only bathe him when he smells, which is NOT very often. Lol |
My foster Yorkie, Sophie, is about 5 years old & she weighs 3 lbs. My mini dachsie, Bobbie Bella, is almost 6 yrs & she weighs 9 lbs. How old is your dachsie & how much does your dachsie weigh? |

My Yorkie(ZZ) is 5 and 3 lbs too. Shilo (Dachshund) is 5 pounds too, he's a Micromini. And a rotten little dog!:animal-pa |
Jasmine is bathed weekly. |
We usually do a bath every 2 weeks if it's warm enough. I also use medicated shampoo and mediated conditioner. |
About every 4-5 days |
I give baths every 7 - 10 days, depending, using an organic shampoo (my own, of course, LOL). |
Chloe gets a bath every week to a week and a half. she has sensitive skin as well so I use a oatmeal puppy formula, and no problems. before i used oatmeal she would get dandruff behind her ears. |
Hummm... i bathe every other week during winter as they spend most time inside, spring and fall they need more baths as we spend a lot of time outside ... backyard and beach. Summer may get too hot, either inside again or plying in the doggi pool... meaning almost everyday getting wet, not shampoo. the shampoo i like the most is petsilk, i love all about it. in the winter time i use the conditioner too, we live in a very old historic new england house, very drafty , radiator heating gets dry ... the conditioner help them softening the hair and skin. I heard of the oatmeal shampoo being good for sensitive skin, i am not sure if the use of the conditioner would help also but i guess it may be worthy to try as it can ad a little more protection. Also try to stay away from Human shampoo ... people and pets have very different PH, so the people shampoo will make things worse. Of course there are also some prescription formulas that may help. A vet advice would be needed for those. XOXO |
In the cooler months, I bathe Max every other week but when its warmer and we go outside more often he gets a bath every week. |
Thank you so much everyone. She really appreciates it!! I do too, I bathe mine every week, just to make things easier. I use an oatmeal shampoo and a scentsy conditioner, (my doggie doesn't have dry skin) but it makes her hair sooo soft! Again ALL of you, my love for you is strong! =-) |

I bathe mine once a week too! I use hypoallergenic shampoo from the vet. |
I bathe once a month because there skin gets so dried out if I dont. But in between that I use conditioner. But, I do clean their ears and brush them once a week. Brush teeth everyday. |
