I don't think there is anytrhing wrong with it. Food coloring is harmless. I went and googled pictures and saw a cute American Flage one. lol

Well that’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard, dyeing dogs come on, maybe pink yellow, or pink and blue, what do you thing he is a stuff animal he's a dog. Skin will absorb the dyes, oh skin irritation..., the little guys are cute the way they are. Also food coloring takes forever to get out of the hair. Next these will be ring piecing. Clothes can’t hurt but colour can. Just my opinion.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I think you could be a little more tactful. I have never heard an owner say that a mild dye (kool-aid, food coloring, real dog hair dye) has irritated their dog's skin. Of course, that doesn't mean it's impossible, so sure, if it makes your dog uncomfortable, don't do it.

I really like that! :) I would love to figure out how to do something similar. I'm not that creative, unfortunately. I do want to do something for the 4th of July, but it will probably just be some blue and red patches.

I just now seen this, one of my good friend does dye somentime her yorkies she does it really nice, I think she get the stuff from pededge;)

Oh do it! I want to see Thor all red and blue!! Allie wouldn't take to it really well because she has such dark black puppy fur. I saw the pink poodle with Cesar, and if it wasn't for the pink OVERload, I would have thought it was cute, but everything about that lady was too pink....

Besides, with all due respect to those that disagree, Thor is YOUR Yorkie.

Thor ended up getting a bunch of July 4th outfits from very sweet YT-ers, possibly to save him from being dyed. So he is safe for THIS Holiday... Halloween is just around the corner though, and orange is his color!

Oooooh, or maybe for my birthday. I will want him to be festive.

I'm a groomer and I wouldn't dye the my dogs. However, I have done it on some client's dogs, but only on their mohawks. Maybe give him a mohawk and dye that part?

Many of the dog show people dye their dogs. I don't know why but to me it seems like cheating but I am told it is okay because 'everybody does it". What do you think? Here is a video that shows how it is done.

I agree with the "seems like cheating" part. But what do I know?!?! I saw this too. I was looking for new ideas on how I should cut my pup.

I used to think people who dyed their whole dog (usually saw poodles in pink or blue) were NUTS but ... hey ... whatever makes them happy as long as it doesn't harm the dog, Right?!

i've dyed morgan before :D and i'm gonna do it again. her hair is longish for her right now, so i'm gonna dye it for a little bit before i cut her short again. I want to get a white standard poodle in the future and i'll dye him/her too. i think its cool if done nicely and only on certain parts.

In grooming school i dyed a clients maltese. I did her boots and tail in pink

I thought show dogs were judged on their 'natural' coat color as well??!:confused: I wouldn't mind trying it on my Mimi girl, but what a LONG process. Is it a dye or color enhancing product? Gonna look it up. I understand ironing, cuz the hair can get curled from the wrapping...

The only good thing...he was using the Madan pin brush.:D

Kellie...do you have pics? I totally want a white toy poodle so I can do all sorts of creative works on him/her.;)

There have been numerous threads on YT about show dogs being dyed. Apparently it is just an acceptable practice, altering a yorkies true colors, even though the YTCA frowns upon it. Those that do it actually call it 'enhancing' the color but to me if it changes the appearance and true color of the dog then it is wrong.

That seems very strange to me because I've heard that non-standard coloring is a considered a major fault. Maybe Thor could have had a future in the ring after all!

Well, he is also a little long and has a little hump on his back, so maybe not. :D

TOOO CUTE!! My mom wants to have a white poodle so bad! BUt I think adding another pooch to our family mix (my sister has 2 cats and a mini schnauzer) and I have three yorkies (one biewer, two regular handsomes). Yeah I'm still trying to find my gorgeous guy a new home.
