Avie has a TON of hair, very thick coat and usually gets a bath every week and a half. Gemma however gets one every week! ;) we use minksheen!(love it!!) also.. buddy wash and buddy rinse!! :) |
It's been running about every 2 weeks. I try to space it out but they start to get a littlbe bit stinky after that. I try to use wips on them after they potty but hubby doesn't so it's 50-50. I use medicated shampoo and conditioner for them. The conditioner smell sooo good-cucumber and melon-it usually lasts for a week so. |
every 2 weeks here...unless Molly rolls in something unsavoury! (it was an enormous pile of bright green duck poo the other week!) :D |
Once a week if i don't she does start to stink. she's potty traning outside and sometimes she lays in the grass/dirt so she will have that outside smell.I use minksheen it doesn't smell like old lady to me. You could always get a free sample from them and test it out. |
I love the smell of minksheen. I bath Sasha every 7-10 days. she does not stink ever. before I had her on regular dog food which made her breath and face smell a little like the food yack! but I switch to premium food Artemis and no more smell, the coat looks better too. Also, the miracle coat conditioner spray apple scent. it smells really good and that's what I use for the daily brush. last, make sure to brush her teeth. I also use dog pet dental mouthwash |
Thanks everyone I appreciate all the advice. SORRY I haven't responded sooner. I posted last night and went to bed, then worked today and after Barley time, I can spend some YT time :) I feed Barley very good food (I've researched ingredients and know what to look for) Innova small breed. And he's been cleared by my vet of all his previous health issues that he had when I rescued him. I know he was neutered shortly before I got him, so could it be hormones still? Sorry, I've had him 7 weeks this Saturday. Could that musky smell be hormones still? I'll try the shampoos and oils recommended. Thanks everyone for taking time to respond! I really am grateful for the helpful advice. :yorkietal:yorkietal:yorkietal:yorkietal |

also.. sometimes you need to clean their lil feetsies :D (when they go 'potty'.. they can sometimes get yuck) ;) |
buddy wash with lavendar My two dogs get baths once a week with Buddy Wash with Lavendar and conditioner of course. We live in the country, lots of dirt and they sleep in my bed. You can feel dirt on your hands when you pet them by Day 7. |
I fight this same issue with Ava. I bathe her every weekend. I have spent so much money on Shampoos. I have bought cheaper shampoo and higher quality shampoo. I heard so many great results from people I know who use petsilk. I tried it and I find Ava is greasy after 2 days. For her the best think I have found is the Espree brand shampoo. Its a cheaper shampoo that I found at Petco. Who would have thought the cheaper shampoo makes her stay clean all week. I think it differs for each dog, depending on their hair type. |
i only give her a bath once a month.. maybe i should do it every two weeks too |
Every two weeks Bella and Luigi get a bath every 2 weeks. But I wipe there bellies and private parts with baby wipes alot. Also there faces because they get stinky. Especially now because their coats are long, they both need a good grooming. I use a Puppy no tears shampoo, then last bath I tried L'Oreal aftercolor conditioner on Luigi's frizzy, easily matted coat and he looked great and the brush went right through his hair it didn't get frizzy looking after brushing as usual. I am going to try a little on Bella this bath time. Ph I forgot to mention after 2 weeks they do get a little stinky. I walk around especially in damp weather saying I smell dog in my house.:aimeeyork:rolleyes: |
I was giving Remy a bath every week. However, he just went to the groomer for the first time (he is 7 months) and she said he should not be bathed more than once per month because it could dry his skin. His skin currently is not dry, but she was quite adamant about it. She said to use puppy wipes on his coat frequently in between baths to keep him smelling fresh. I am not sure I am in agreement with her advice, but am going to try to space out his baths more.... I do wipe his eyes every morning with a cotton ball moistened with warm water. It keeps his eye gunk down and his face looking fresh |
I usually bathe Luc every Saturday, but since he is still a puppy met advised me to bathe him only once a month. It's been almost 3 weeks I bathed him last, but he smells so bad, I can't wait any longer. I guess is because he tends to lay down a lot on his wee wee pad and that pee smells goes into his coat. I usually use 8 in 1 Perfect Coat Tearless Shampoo for puppies (baby powder scent) and 8 in 1 Perfect Coat Moisturizing conditioning rinse for dogs. In between baths I usually use Crazy Dog Baby Dog Baby Powder Scented Grooming Spray for Puppies & Dogs. This Grooming spray smells great and leaves Luc smelling very fresh. |
I bath Pao every week or every 2 weeks depending on how dirty he gets. I do love to bring him for long walks and we go everywhere and he sleeps in my bed so I'd like to keep him somewhat clean. |
Ohh, the baby wipes are a good idea. Mo gets to smelling after he pees. I will have to get some and maybe a wipe warmer...hmmmmm |
