I don't shave that area but I have some small scissors and I cut around that area. I always heard don't shave because then you end up with a baboon butt! :D |
I shave all of their booties :) |
I just put them in the sink when they get poo on there butt. :p |
I am being totally serious~do you all really have that many problems with their little behinds? I have 3 and a foster and never even think about their butts after they go poop. They go to the groomer about every 6 weeks and get a bath once a week. I never have to put them into the sink for a butt bath. Could it be the food that they are eating that is making the poop too loose that it sticks to their fur? |

i am easily amused! i ask the groomer for a hygiene shave around the butt area. and only have to wash her butt if her poop is soft... yuck! |

What I am trying to say is that when they poop there isn't anything stuck to them to clean off. Everyone is talking about how the poop sticks to their pups butt and fur but if you are feeding a good quality food their poop should not stick and there should be no need to wipe, wash or shave like a baboon. A dog should poop a firm poop and it just should not stick to their behind. My pups poop 2 times a day so that would be 8 butt washing a day. Not only is that a little time consuming and impractical but how could that possibly be good for their skin to have someone washing their behinds twice a day? Even when I had babies (human) I tried to keep the butt wiping to a minimum because their tender little butts would become irritated. |
Unfortunately I have a good example from today: Thor started pooping, but there is construction work on my street, and all this heavy machinery went roaring by him. He got nervous, stood up, and tucked his tail right into some poop he was still working on. Is it just me, or have the boards been more contentious than usual lately? |

My groomer calls it a "landing strip," she shaves a strip on the bum from anus straight down. I get it done on the Maltese as well. Works like a charm. Puddin' had her first grooming yesterday and she was NOT amused! But she now has a nice little landing strip! |

We have exactly the same routine here. Love those baby wipes for quick cleanups! |

I have only had this problem once, and I really think it was because Stewie's little tum tum wasn't feeling up to par! I just stuck him in the sink (laundry/mud room) and let the warm water run over his hiney! Voila no dingleberries! |

LMBO! I was just thinking the same thing. I need to go check their hineys right now. |
