ear hair My vet told me to pull the hair out of the inside of Widget's ears so that it doesn't get all pluged up with wax. Does anyone else do this? |
The groomer always did it with my Lhasa Poo but never with my Yorkie. |
I recently changed groomers. She advised me that the hair in the Yorkie ears should be pulled, but gradually. I have never noticed hair in his ears before. |
Yes. The hair in the ear canal needs to be removed in yorkies. You can pluck it yourself or have your vet or groomer do this for you. |
My sister used to breed, but, she always thought it was dangerous to use tweezers or scissors(like I saw the groomer using the other day), she put I think it was baby powder, on her fingers and would pull it out |

I use the ear powder which makes the hair easy to pull out. Just dust the ear hair, and take a little at a time and give a quick jerk. It doesn't even hurt the dog, and so easy to do. |

R-7 Ear Powder - Dog.com Never use hemostats or tweezers as it can pull out hair that isn't meant to come out on the flap. It is very painful. |
I don't know if my groomer pulls the hair out or not, I am going to ask her when I go again. |

R-7 ear powder...hummm...Does this work on Husbands too? :D |
Ear hair My vet told me to do this because she itches her ears all the time. I have it done when she is groomed. I don't do it. :) |
The vet told me to have the groomer pull the hair out of Callies ears and I notice that if there is a lot of hair in there she rubs her ears a lot and when there isnt any in there she dosent |
I do I learned with our miniature poodle that it doesn't hurt them ,and he would get nasty ear infections if it wasn't pulled regularly. My groomer did it every 8 weeks ,but he needed it done more often. When we got our yorkie I just started doing his every week along with the poodles. A little R-7 and fingers are all you need. All dogs vary and may not need done once a week, but I do it on bath days and it works out well. |
yes , yorkie ear hair needs pulling, I do sophie s ears about once a month, just hold a little between thumb and forfinger and give it a quick firm pluck, it does nt hurt and they dont notice !!! honestly.... |
I just tried this with Chloe and didn't use powder. She made a little noise, but only once, and she doesn't mind! |
