Hmmm, I asked my vet if I should be pulling Missy's out and she had a look at her ears then said "No". Maybe it depends on the dog? |

I would use ear powder. If you pinch your thumb and forefinger and pull, quite a bit comes out. It doesn't come out by the strand. You'll be surprised how easily it comes out. |
Ladymom, thank you. |
I've seen this topic on here before but had never worried about it. The groomer must be taking care of it since it doesn't seem to be a problem for Roxie. |
Maybe the thicker coat they have the more ear hair they have? Does it hurt them to pull it out? |
I know it doesn't hurt Finnigan one bit... he just looks at me like what was that noise. My only problem is that I don't know if you can pull too much out... where do you want to be hairless in the ear exactly? |
When Teddy went in for his neuter last month, the vet tech removed the hair in his ears. He told us that it needed to be whenever he is groomed so that bacteria does not grow in the warmth of the ear by attaching to the hair. I never thought of doing it myself but he does do a lot of ear scratching. I guess I will do some more research on it as well. |
Ya, I removed some here and there. Every dog is different and some need it more than others. |

Only pull out the hairs that's coming out of the ear canal itself. They should come put easily when pulled & powder helps w/gripping. Please pull small pieces of hair at a time... |
