Wow!! I cant believe how pricey groomers are now-a -days! I am in the wrong business!! Thats $45.oo for 30 to 40 minutes worth of work for me and I do bath, style, groom, toe nails, blow dry on all my dogs. I went by a grooming shop today and it was 45 for small dogs and up to 100 for large dogs. I knew I should have went to grooming school!!LOL:) |
Well...I used to bring Pao to the groomers. It ranges from Cad$30-$75. The expensive groomer didn't fare better than the lower rate groomers, its their rent that got in to the higher rate. And the cut was a shave down for $75!!! I absolutely didn't like it at all and Pao didn't look comfortable nor happy so I do it myself now. At least, he isn't accidentaly cut and gets plenty of break time and treats and classical music playing in the background for relaxation and I am real gentle with him. |
I pay $45 every 6 weeks. Piper gets a bath, haircut, ears and nails. I've been using the same groomer for 25 years. In all those years there has never been a cut, nick or clipper burn. I just love them. |
YIKES!! I had NO idea everyone was paying that much for grooming!! I have always groomed my girls...with 5, i'd have to cash in my CD's to get them groomed!! |
Ah Yes, now I see that I am Paying on the high side for a groom of little Suzi:eek: Her first one cost me $65.00 and it dropped down to $55.00 i gave the groomer A $10.00 tip. They do everything on her too. ANd I like the groomer I take Suzi to, but they ARE expensive:eek: |
I wondered this same thing, as I do my toy poodle myself. I take my Great Pyrenees to the groomer every four months and it's $115, plus a $20 tip. He's 110 lbs so I only do baths when I have to, otherwise I take him to the groomer. I wondered about taking Barley or doing him myself. I bath him myself and have done some trimming, but I don't think I can pull the hair out of his ears. Does everyone here have the hair pulled from the ears? What is the hot oil treatment some mentioned? Should I be doing that with my guy? I've only had him three weeks now and want to do right by him. PS: A rule of thumb I use before deciding on a groomer is to watch them a few times before needing my guy groomed to see how they handle the dogs. I have a local pet store that I love, but refuse to use them as I've seen how they handle big dogs very roughly. I once seen a lady grabbed a handful of fur on the dog's back and pull him around towards her like it was a handle on it's back. I couldn't keep my mouth shut on that one. Poor guy. |
grooming fees I am paying about $25 plus a very healthy tip for bath, cut and nails. My groomer is gentle and adores the pups! I am lucky!:) |
I pay $45 with $15 tip and they do everything including nails, massage and a pink bow on top :) My groomer is priceless! |
Groomers' charge Here in Florida I pay $55.00 plus a 45.00 tip. I have to leave him at 8am and don't get him back until around 2 which I don't like. I don't understand why they can't do one and then start on another. I tried grooming my 2 year old Brady since we got him at 12 weeks but he is like a jumping jack but right now I have to search for a groomer as I didn't like the last one. Lorraine and Brady |
Sorry - big mistake -- I give a $5.00 tip not $45. -- yikes |
25 dollars a dog and thats express service, done in one hour. And they are the best... |
I pay 12.00 |
Grooming I pay 12.00:) |

When my fiance took Cookie to get groomed he payed $65 not including tip for bath, anal glands, nails, teeth and cut. |
