No poodle there. He's pretty much a yorkie. Does he have a wooly or cotton like coat?
I'd expect his coat to stay dark.
If you want him to look more like a yorkie you can use and groom him differnt and use other products.
There are so many things it could be. The vomit and hair loss may or may not be related. Keep the communication with the vet.

thanx:) hes adorable so it doesnt matter if he changes colors but i guess i would call his coat cottony? lol its really soft and fluffy and when he gets a bath its super curly. Im still doing the barium friday so that will tell us once and for all what the prob is with vomiting i hope. If nothing else it will rule out blockage and megaesophagus. Im hoping the fur is just b/c of the recent food switch but im going to ask the vet just in case:animal36 thanx for all the input

Anytime. They can have sensitive stomachs. This isn't usually how it goes. You know that. You're doing the right thing.

Do you have photos of his teeth?

Does he get matted if you don't brush him what seems like daily? He looks like he a sweetheart. I have a feeling you're in for a treat with a new suprise. They manipulate all.

In the photos his nose is shaved. If you allow the hair on his nose to grow pass the stage that drives you nuts you will be better off. It's hard to do. It's like you having bangs that are growing in your eye level and they keep poking you in the eye. It's easier to just chop them than to allow them to grow past that stage. You may choose some a product or bear w/ it. Once they get past the bad part you will part the hair. It will fall over the bridge of the nose. You can expect it to make his nose appear less pointed. You won't have to keep cutting it. The hair will stop poking him in the eye when it grows. It will give him more of a teddy bear face.

Make sure you update up on the test. I hope he gets a quick diagnose to put Timmy's past life all in back of him.

i dont have any photos of his teeth..they are getting cleaned friday along with the barium..that way only one anesthesia:) his mouth is slimy and he doesnt let me brush..so im gonna start working on that AFTER the cleaning. He was groomed at the shelter..or they got him groomed anyway..so i prob will let his nose hair grow a bit. He doesnt seem to get matted at all so far..i only brush him every few days and his hair is so soft i havent noticed any matting.

I had him on Eukanuba, what my pom is on, and he threw up....so i switched to sensitive systems purina with salmon and it made it WAY WORSE. So now hes back on eukanuba and doing much better..still no reason for the throw up..we're doing a barium study friday. Could the food switching be the reason for the hair loss?

omg yes plz dont switch food so fast little by little it messes up digestive system Bunny is on Eukanuba (small breed) wanna switch her to something better maybe science diet

my yorkie's color

My Posh is a mixture of gray with streaks of brown in the face and her body has lightened from black to a darker gray. posh is almost a year. Will her face ever turn that beautiful brown color I see in yorkies? I hope so...

MistyW 09-10-2010 05:21 PM

My Libby will be 12 weeks in a couple of days and there is already such a drastic difference in her color than when I brought her home at 8 weeks! Her face was almost completely black now it much lighter with more tan coming in.

It has been at least 3 years for two and the coloring has stop, and sasha she is still changing at 2.

I knew Neko hair color would change but it still kinda took me by surprise. I was playing with his hair and I noticed brown roots. I am loving this entire experience.

Princess10 03-05-2011 08:47 PM

this may sound like a dumb question but i'm asking anyways. :)
looking at the pictures i have of princess what color would you say her hair is? she's my first and only yorkie and i know their hair colors change and vary and i was just looking to get someones opinion on it.
thanks. :)

Suzi just turned 3 years old on the third of this month. My goodness, The top of her head now is more white then silver now. I was not expecting that to happen. Towards the back of her she has the silver coloring more so there, she has a really pretty gold that hangs down around her face nowthat her hair is longer. She has lots of silver on her back, and I think their will be more coming as she ages.

My Sasha will soon be two and I've noticed her color changing too! She was of course the black and tan as an "infant" and over time became a beautiful silver with tan/red head and feet. Lately I've seem very dark steely grey, almost black roots coming in. When we first had her groomed, they left a little flouce of her black baby hair on her tail which I couldn't bear to cut off. It was her baby hair! Now it's gotten long and needs to be trimmed:(. I love her silver, it's so light she almost glows! She's my moonbeam!:moon: It kind of saddens me to see the change but she will still be my baby girl.

My Ladybug 09-19-2011 03:14 PM

Hi, I'm a new Yorkie Mommy. Ladybug was born 7-6-2011. We just got her at 10 weeks old. She's already turning tan and silvery gray. Most photos I see of pups that young are always all black and tan with lots and lots of fluffy fur and ears standing erect. Ladybug's ears haven't stood up yet and she isn't as fluffy as other pups. My friend even asked if her hair was cut before we brought her home because her yorkie had such long hair. Ladybug is the most beautiful yorkie pup I've seen but I'm still just wondering if I should be concerned.

Hi, and welcome to you and Ladybug.
Would love to see pictures of your furbaby.

Hi Everyone i am about to get a male yorkie and i want him not to be big but medium.Butt!!!! He's the BIGGEST out of all of the puppies he is 1 month old and i want to know if hes going to be big. in my head im thinking his going to be like 19 inches long but i want him to be like 15 inches long i dont know what to expect... And i dont know how many pounds is he

Yorkiemom1 03-19-2012 03:58 AM

Dont bet any money on a Yorkies color until they are at least 3 years old! When they hit between three and four, you can pretty well see what you have!

Mumof2babies 05-21-2012 04:09 PM

I have 4. 2 are the black and tan, one is silver with a tiny bit of tan on her toes and the other is completely black with white paws and a white chest patch. Oddball colors for oddball dogs. They keep me entertained <3

Jailynn 12-31-2012 09:00 AM

4 years and still no change

My Sarafina is 3 lbs. Black and Tan. Everyone kept telling me she was going to get grey. But she turns 4 today and I have seen no change. Prompting me to google it. I read a few places as she matures into adulthood she will change.byt I've been reading such conflicting info on here. Now I don't know what to believe. Oh well. Guess it doesn't much matter anyway.

noochie2742 12-31-2012 09:22 AM

my two will be 6months tomorrow they are still very dark grey on ears and head mixed with black mom and dad are not very dark.

Our little Max is now five months old. It would be great if he'd stay the color he is now but if he changes he will still be little Max. 100% character!

Welcome to Yorkie Talk! Max is adorable. My Max went through so many changes. Each time I wished he had stayed whatever color he was at a particular stage, but then I fell in love with the next color.
