Thanks Cindy. That's what my hubbys says to do - get good clippers. I just want to make certain that I can do this before putting out a lot of money. |

I am thinking about taking the plunge also. Suzi has her first professional grooming appointment set up for tommorow. It is an hour half drive just to get there. i am having second thoughts about it. I should learn how to do it myself. Why not spend some money and get clippers and learn something new? That is really what I am thinking of doing . Suzi is a wiggler too and i bet she will be a stinker with the clippers. I am going to look into a table as well. that is a fabulous idea . Her ears need to be shaved, cause they are weighed down with so much hair. It is mostly around her face that needs a good trim right now. I want to trim some of her rear end hairs too, so poo won't get stck on her. Suzi has soft fine hair. No curls or thickness. Her hair lay's straight down her , but can be easily knotted if not brushed all the time. |
i don't have a clue about the one you link...but after buying Sue's video she did recommend the following clipper i opt for the 2 speed since i also own Maltese that has double layer of coat...heheh..hope that helps! PetEdge: Oster Golden A5 Single Speed Clipper |
I did not take Suzi to the Groomer's. Instead I went on a Hunt for a Clipper set, yesterday evening. I went to a few places and still did not find one i liked. So I went anther 25 miles to Petco. It was the nicest petco I have ever seen and been in. I chose a clipper set made by WAHL. It was $45.00. And comes with A DVD. There is a picture of A Yorkie on the front. i am also interested in buying a groomer table. I think it would be a lot easier if i had one. I know it is going to take lot's of time, practice, and patience. but, I have that. Also the great thing is that hair always grows back. :D |

Good for you, for getting your clippers already. You'll have to post pictures. I've been kinda stuck since the bridge I have to go over is under construction and there are major delays coming over it to come home so I have not been out shopping. I'm having withdrawals!:D |
That table sounds perfect. i'll have to check it out! i am nervous grooming Suzi. But, if and when i mess up, she won't care, and it will grow back lol. :D |

I am sure that it gives you some peace of mind also too do it yourself. After reading all of the possible things that can happen at the groomers. Hot Rod's groomers are pretty nice and they love him but the last couple of times I had to take him back to have his nails filed down some more as they were very, very sharp. One time he drew blood on my chest with 5 scratches!:( |
