Well, tipping my groomer is something I just hadn't thought about. I take my two Bichons every four weeks and have been doing that for a long time. They are on a "maintenance" program and it costs me $20.50 per dog. I get a break because I bring them in every four weeks. Otherwise a grooming is $36.00. She does a great job on my Lacy and Cosmo and some groomers don't even know how to groom a Bichon. She owns the salon and is the only groomer. I will tip her from now on! |
grooming Many of us would never have become the fine groomers we are if we accepted what was handed back to us.... one day after picking up my two Yorkies, I said I could have done better with a sack over my head...and you know what, I can groom better with my eyes closed then what I once paid for...so I began a groomer and took away all their Yorkie business.. |
We tip $5.00 each girl. They almost always go together, so add $10.00 to the bill. |
I only tip when they do a good job. We struggle between groomers alot because theres not a good selection around here and sometimes we have a hard time communicating. |

I haven't had my Yorkie groomed yet, I am worried about her separation anxiety. But I alway tipped when I took my Lhasa Poo in she ran about $40.00 to $45.00. Those of us who have worked for tips know just how much that means and is appreciated so I tip well.:D |

Just thought I would mention that I took your advice and mailed a tip in a nice thank you card, along with a note telling them how much I appreciated the job they did with Pepper. When I called this morning, he told me how nice it was for me to do this. Usually he is hard to get into, but this morning he asked me what day would be good for me. I am not sure if the card and tip did that or not, but I will not forget to tip again. Thanks for the advice. ;) |
Groomers I really don't tip they come to the house, I have 5-dogs 3-schnauzers and 2-yorkies, It really depends on what time they come. If its in the morning I give them coffee, donuts. and if its in the afternoon hambugers. Or what they want. I guess that is a tip. I just love these ladies. They really love the babies and they love them. Love Cheryl/Jack/Bella/someday a biewer:animal-pa |
Thanks for the advice! Hi everyone! Thank you all so much for the great advice. I just wanted to update you all that the following day I returned to the groomers and and thanked them for the beautiful job they did on my puppy! I told them I was very happy and even got some compliments on her new cut! I left a $10.00 tip for the lady that worked on my pup. I appologized that I got distracted the day before and forgot to leave this. She was so greatfull and told me how nice that was of me!! It's almost time for another appointment soon!!! :animal36 |
I always tip. My groomer owns her own place. She loves Lucy and Rebel and treats them like they were her own. They're always happy to see her and always look beautiful when I pick them up. She also boards them if I have to be out of town. I wouldn't take anything for the relationship we have with Miss Patsy. It means the world to me to know that my babies are in good hands and happy when I leave them with her. |
I'm glad someone started this thread, I haven't taken Gwen to the groomer yet but I was wondering, I won't tip well if she looks horrible afterwards but I always tip my hairdresser very well and she has come in early or on days she normally doesn't work just for me...and I absolutely adore everything she does to my hair so it makes good sense lol. Thanks! |
I am a groomer and I am honest also, those that tip get a few extra benefits and much better treatment, Like if they really need a last min appt and I am booked up I will stay late to squeeze them in, I use my best and prettiest bows on them (and I try to remember what collar Mom really loves too), their dogs get the sofest fleece blankets fo rthei crate while waiting. I am the owner and I have an employee...I guess I feel jaded when people tell me they don't tip cause I own the place. My other groomer makes MUCH more then I do. i pay rent, phone, electric, advertising, equipment repair, I buy all the eqiupment, pay for all shampoos...on top of the shop bills I also pay over $350 a week in babysitting for my two legged crew. My employee makes 50%...but before any dog leaves I go over it and fix anything I see that needs to to adjusted (my shop, my standards), she has no expenses cause I pay for all her equipment and supplies and clothing (we have shop clothing) and footwear. I am appalled that your dog would leave a place dirty! We have a bath system and it was not overly expensive but if I dog feels dirty to me once it is dried it goes back into the tub. Mind you this rarely happens...only time might be if a dog has been on ear meds for an infection and we were no aware of it and the ears feels greasy, but I have no problem for rewashing a dog. |
