Do you tip a groomer? Hello!! Yesterday was the first time I brought my puppy to the groomers. I brought her to a dog salon. I got the works package and it cost me $46.01 I didn't leave and tip and I didn't even think about it at the time. Should I have left a tip? Do people generally give tips to dog groomers? This is my first dog and first experience so I do not know. Any ideas? Thanks!! |
If it's not the salon owner doing the grooming...I tip. |
I always tip |
yes i tip.. |
I always tip. |
I tip. I pay $40 each and the girl who does them does a really great job...always asks if it's just the way I want it, and if there's anything I want fixed, she does it right away. She definitely deserves it! |
I take my two to the owner of the shop and she charges $40.00 each. So I don't tip then but when I take them for a nail trim & sanitary cut I normally do. |
I only get the nails done, and it's $8.00 for that and a $2.00 tip. It's cheaper at the vet, and I don't tip him. :D |
I always tip, $5 each girl or 10%, whatever is greater. The more they do, the bigger the tip. Sometimes it costs each Yorkie as much as it does me for a shampoo and cut! And I don't even get my nails and privates done. :D:D:D |
yep, we tip our groomer. |
OMG!! I hadn't even thought about tipping the groomer. Just took Pepper for the first time last week. At least I know for next time. :) |

tipping I was the Yorkie "salon" owner and 50% of my clients tipped me..and never forgot my BDay and Christmas...guess who got special treatment?? I am being honest...I groomed and treated all the Yorkies exactly the same...but if a client needed a last minute grooming, I took them with no notice if possible..or kept their Yorkie if they wanted to shop or whatever all day and come back that evening...I would run them to the vet after grooming for shots etc or pick up and deliver if the client was ill or had a time conflict...there are perks that come with being very nice to service people...you should have seen the way I treated the techs in my vets office...I am no fool.! LOL |
I have 4 that go to the groomers and she charges me depending on what I want done between $35 and $38.00. I think it's because I have 4 dogs, so she gives me a discount. They always get bathed, groomed, nails, anal glands if needed, etc. And I always leave a tip. |
I had ears shaved and tipped, sanitary cut, nails, hair on pads cut, bathed and came home with a bandana all for 16.40. Now, I feel really bad about not tipping. I am a big tipper at restaurants and even tip the carhops at sonic. I should have thought to tip the groomer. :( |

Thank you! That is a great idea. :) |
My kids are $35 a piece but I always give $40 so that they get a $5 tip. They do really nice work and my kids are VERY comfortable with them. |
Stupid quesiton: I never got the whole not tipping the owner thing... Is there a reason behind it? Im not a salon owner just curious |

I always tip!! I can't imagine not giving a tip to my groomer - I'm dependant on her!! :) |
I didn't think to tip the groomer the first few times I went either, but I have ever since I realized that I should be doing it. It normally costs around $35 each time and I just always give her a $5 tip. |
well i used to tip but now that i am cutting my own dog hair i have no reason to...hehe...stay tune for Yoshi's new hairdo thread...i think i did a wonderful job and he looks really cute! |

I am a professional groomer and work for myself...I appreciate every tip I get...I know that salon owners may take a larger % of the money taken in by the shop but they also have many more expenses...Rent, Ins, Utilities, shampoo, conditioner, etc...Please tip your groomer if they are doing a great job! :D |
I tip if they do a good job in a timely fashion. |
