Glad you brought this up, alot of people don't realize they should tip! tippers do get special treatment, if they need sqeezed in or other client special needs! :)

My kids are $35 a piece but I always give $40 so that they get a $5 tip. They do really nice work and my kids are VERY comfortable with them.

I never got the whole not tipping the owner thing... Is there a reason behind it?

Im not a salon owner just curious

the owner gets a % of what the other workers bring in, the others do not get paid as much and do a great job on your babies:)

Yeah that makes alot of sense. Some owners take advantage of their employees and take alot more then they should of.. Its happened to me and there wasnt a thing I could do about it.. Thank God Im not there anymore

I always tip!! I can't imagine not giving a tip to my groomer - I'm dependant on her!! :)

I didn't think to tip the groomer the first few times I went either, but I have ever since I realized that I should be doing it. It normally costs around $35 each time and I just always give her a $5 tip.

well i used to tip but now that i am cutting my own dog hair i have no reason to...hehe...stay tune for Yoshi's new hairdo thread...i think i did a wonderful job and he looks really cute!

Well...... YOu could always tip yourself and buy something afterwards and you can give yourself a big tip cause your grooming cost nothing

hehe...except very time consuming...hehe..maybe cuz it was my first time. and he was really matted due to his cottony coat..but i will be keeping up with it...hehe..and hopefully over time it won't take me 4 hrs to do...hehe...of course there were breaks in between and my fiancee was helping...hehe...can't wait to post pictures after work tonight and get other opinion on how i did...hehe

I am a professional groomer and work for myself...I appreciate every tip I get...I know that salon owners may take a larger % of the money taken in by the shop but they also have many more expenses...Rent, Ins, Utilities, shampoo, conditioner, etc...Please tip your groomer if they are doing a great job! :D

I wouldn't mind the shop owner taking more but my main complaint was the bather half a$$ed washed our dogs they were always coming back to us dirty and god forbid if u complained. It didn't help that they were friends so our complaints went unheard. Its great fun trying to make the best out of grooming a dirty dog. If u rewashed u got b*****d at. It was a no win situation. I have to say my grooming sucked there u can't make a dirty dog look its best There was a bathing system (the cheapest type u could buy) and u know that's supposed to make bathing easier but it made it worse dogs were getting half washed in record time. I always snuck and rewashed my yorkies lol I have a yorkie reputation to uphold. It was horrible. Just thinking about the experience makes me beyond mad. However it makes me appreciate my wonderful working conditions now and my clients dogs look great. One more rant and I swear I'm done. They skimped on everything. They had to be just pocketing the extra money. Wasn't much because it was a slow salon. Ok rant done lol. Thank god I moved on to bigger and better things.
