How long would it take to get his hair back? I just adopted a 17 week-old yorkie from my animal shelter. He was gorgeous. My friend who was a groomer for ten years offered to give him a cut. I accepted thinking she knew what to do. I asked for not too short on the back and a little off the face. She told me she would do a typical yorkie cut. I told her ok and 2 hours later, she handed me a wreck. How long do you think it would take to grow his hair back and would his dark colors come back? |
Aww, I am sorry you had a groomer that didn't listen :( But there is a bright side to this, if your pup is only 17 weeks, having it shaved will save you from going through the puppy coat stage, which can be, depending on the coat type, a p.i.t.a. My girl had the worst of worst puppy coats, matted easily, so I kept her in a puppy cut until she was almost a year, and have been growing it ever since. Her hair is beautiful now and never matts!! As far as the color goes, it all depends on what coloring your Yorkie is going to turn out to be. It could come in lighter or dark. Not because it was cut, but because thats how some Yorkies change. Welcome to YT! And congrats on your new Yorkie :) |
He's still really young, and so I guess it will grow pretty fast, Joey's hair grew fast the first six months, and I made lots of mistakes while learning how to cut his hair in a style I like. Finally perfected my technique, and then I decided I like it when the nose hair is long and goes to the topknot instead of that little "V" like in a puppy cut, so now at 1 1/2 he's going through another awkward period. My advice is to visit the grooming forum, and read some of those instruction booklets they provide. His grooming time is a very pleasant experience for us, and if it's wrong, I only have myself to blame. Oh, welcome to YorkieTalk! |
thank you. It was a horrible expirence. It was like he died and I got a new pup. |

Oh, I'm sorry your friend gave your little one a cut you didn't like. It won't take long at all to grow back. Just a few months. Welcome to YT! Can't wait to see pictures. :) |

Maybe you should consider buying him a couple of shirts or tanks. Clothes can offer some protection of the summer sun, as well as warmth if using air conditioner. Probably his head should look good in a month. |
there too big of a file to post. I tried to post links to imageshack and I thik that needs approving. Its so upsetting to look at the pictures of what he used to look like. His name is Benny by the way. |
I'm not sure about imageshack, here's a free program that lets you resize pictures and do other things. Photoscape : Free Photo Editing Software Download Photobucket let you resize pictures onsite. Benny's a cute name, remember, he still the same dog, just a different look, and probably in a couple days, your eyes will get use to the new look. This thread has lots of infomation on how to post pictures as well as a program that resizes. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...-pictures.html |
