I have tried them all :( I have tried every band and clip that i can get my hands on. And some are really easy to put in but none will stay in. Sammy's hair is so silky soft that they just slide right out. They may stay in for a minute tops then the second he moves or shakes his head it is out again. I have never seen hair this silky and slick is there anything that will help keep a band or clip in his hair? I have to do something because it is always in his eyes if i don't put it back :( |
How old is Sammy? |
6 months old tomorrow |
Sorry your having a hard time. I don't know if they will work or if you should try it but have you tried the velcro ones, or maybe using toothpaste like some people do with babies? Just trying to give you some ideas. |
Toothpaste? |
I have tried the velcro ones actually those are the first ones i tried and they just went floop right on out lol. Hmmmm i never heard of using toothpaste i will have to read up on that one. You know having 7 kids you would think i would have a clue at how to keep his hair back lol. |
Sammy still has puppy hair, and that is more difficult to keep bows in. As soon as he starts getting his adult hair, it should be a little easier to keep something in it. One of my little ladies, "Isabella" always manages to get burettes and bows out of her hair ~ she's just a tom boy and doesn't want anything girlie. |
That is so funny because out Isabella (Bella) is the saame exact way she is such a tom boy and pouts when we put a dress on her or soemthing in her hair. It is great to know that this is curable so to speak ;) . So any advice on how to keep his hair out of his eyes until the puppy hair is gone? I just feel so bad for him because it looks so annoying to have all that hair right there in his way. |

1 Attachment(s) The problem i am having is keeping the hair back out of his eyes though. Here is a pic of hiom laying in front of his bubby Max. See what i mean about his hair in his little eyes. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PIC??????????????? |
1 Attachment(s) What is happening it won't let me show the picture no matter how i try to do it |
Didn't see your picture though, but you can stick it to their heads as well. After thinking about it while I was typing out my response...toothpaste probably wouldn't be a good idea :( they can knock it off with their paws and lick the toothpaste which would be bad....sorry for even mentioning it...I was just trying to come up with ideas for you though. I'm out of ideas for the moment. |
1 Attachment(s) Yeah for some reason my picas aren't coming through :( |
Hey i think it finally worked :D |
He is adorable! I'm sorry I couldn't come up with a better idea. Maybe some of the others will have an idea for you to try. |
anyone wearing braces at your house? Or have worn them? I use all my daughter's leftover rubber bands from her braces! They work perfect - they are tiny, 3 twists & they are in the hair and stay, because they are thick. Can't you just see me going back in to the office begging for more bags of rubber bands when I run out? Hoping they will at least sell me some because as far as I'm concerned everything else is way too big |
he will always have silky hair. Both his parents do andd I cannot ever keep bowss in either of their hair. You ought to just cut him some bangs like i didd his parents. Sometimes I put one in to take a picture and before I can get the camera aimed, it slides out. What you can do is pull the hair up put a product (like gel or a little hairspray )then put the band on or bow in. I have some stuff. let me look, It is called MURRAY'S Hair Dressing Pomade. I got it at Walmart and it is in an orange can. It is in the section where the African-American hair products are. I pull the hair up and put a little bit on my fingers and rub it over the hair I want to stay in place. It is kind of gummy. But once you do this, the band ought to stay in. Don't count on his hair getting any coarser;) |

I know isn't he BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! Dee you should be very very very proud he is one ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL little boy!!!!!! Do you really think he could be shown? I am just shocked i mean i know he is gorgeous but as you know i am a dumby when it comes to what is correct lol. I tell you what i wouldn't ever let anyone but you show him ;). And he is get this 4 pounds!!!!!!! I was so excited when he finally hit the mark that i was hoping for 2 days ago :D |
Dee i also have to say that this little guy is so obedient it is shocking. I have never seen a furbaby like him he is so different from the other rascals we have. He has never once had a accident he has always went right to the potty pads. You did a wonderful job at potty training him! He is so spoiled to he has to be sitting on the drivers lap in the car. He doesn't car who is driving that is his seat and that is where he thinks he has to be. He is wonderful on a leash and harness. It was up in the 70's yesterday so i took him out for the first time and he stuck right there with me. He never once offered to pull or try to take off he was by my side the whole time. Honestly this baby boy is a true angel no one could ever ask for more. And when you get on the floor with him he will put both his paws gently on your face and give the sweetest little kisses i just love it!! Dee i cannot thank you enough for this wonderful bundle of LOVE!!!!!!!!!!! |

I was holding him to show then thought his ears might be a little big. Remember we talked about that. But it looks like the rest of him has caught up. Is he lead broke? Email me and we will talk about this showing. There is a show coming up in July near here. I am going to have my two pups from this litter and my girl in it. I am leaving your thread now. Sorry. Email me. |
Dee i have to go to your site to get your email because after my internet problem i have lost everything. Oh and also my email doesn't send or recieve right now so i will be sending it from hotmail email so be looking for something from hotmail. And yeah now that you mention it i do remember you saying that about his ears. I am going to email you now :) |
I am so glad that you have found a solution to your problem. One thing I always worried about with my babies losing their bands, etc., was the possibility of their putting them in their mouth and choking on them. I have a little girl (Spirit) that looks just like your little one. She is a Bow Belle girl, and like her name, full of spunk and energy. It's funny that you have an Isabella (Bella) who is a little tom boy. My Bella is extremely regal, but loves to run around the yard and hunt for squirrels. |
Well i kind of did lol. I was going to just cut it but now that i am considering showing him i can't do that. So for now i am going to use the stuff that Dee suggested and see how well that works with the little man :) I have the same exact fear i have always been terrified that one will come out and he will eat it but i am sure were not the only ones with that fear. Hunting for squirrels oh my i would love to see that! That would be a site :). And i would just love to see a picture of your little Spirit if you ever get time and don't mind showing her off ;) |
I use little claw clips 2 Attachment(s) Brooke's hair is very fine and slippery but I like to use the little bitty claw clips that are sold at Target for kids. I pull up her topknot and twist it a few times and then put the claw clip on there. Then I use alittle hair gel just to keep the wispy short hairs that didn't make it into the clip from getting in her eyes. I will try and post a photo. One of them shows two claw clips and the other has only one. Hope this helps! Nanci and Brooke |
