Yorkie Day in NYC - Sept. 14! Hi everyone! I posted this in the main forum, but wanted to add a separate post in the NYC regional forum since this is a NYC event. I want to invite everyone to an awesome and free event I am hosting in New York City. We are trying to get the largest ever gathering of yorkies all in one spot! I believe NYC probably has more yorkies than any other city, so we think this is definitely possible. We are hosting Yorkie Day on September 14, 2013 in Central Park and we will have contests, giveaways, advice, vendors, and tons of other fun stuff. Best of all, we will be taking a large group photo so we can show off the HUGE number of yorkies we have in one place! Check out our website at yorkieday.com. Please register today if you are planning on coming so we can plan an even better event by knowing how many people and yorkies will be there. Invite your yorkie friends! Hope to see and meet you all on September 14! |
Oh yay!!! I registered :) I have a 2 Yorkies & a Yorkshire Terrier/Maltese mix. Can I bring my 1/2 Yorkie as well? |
Nevermind...I just saw that all dogs are welcome but only purebred Yorkies will be counted in the tally and can participate in the contests and group picture. Can't wait to see all the adorable Yorkies!!! :D |
Yes, all dogs are definitely welcome! We look forward to seeing you and your three cuties on September 14! |
I'm posting a link to the thread in the general forum where there are more responses. We're all excited about NYC Yorkie Day!! :D http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...sept-14-a.html |
Oh wow... that sound like an awesome event. Too bad I'm in Ohio and rarely travel. Im sure there are tons of YT members who will join. I would love to see photos thou. |
I registered too. I hope you can get the BuddyBelt people there. I love their harnesses! Will you have a rain date? If the weather's bad, I won't be going into the city from Jersey. Tracey |
Yorkie Day 9/14/13 I have registered STAR.:aimeeyork |
Blue and I are moving to NYC this August! We can hardly wait to attend the event and maybe we could make some new friends there! |

I forgot about Yom Kippur on September 14th. :( It is Jew's New Year holiday and it is very important to my fiancé. I was so bummed! If the event starts in the morning, that would be great because I can go! If not, please take pictures so that way I will feel like like I was there with you guys! :) |
It sounds like such fun. Wish all of us from all over could come and enjoy all the Yorkies together. Think of the fun and the pictures! Tibbe would eat it up with a spoon. Have fun and post lots of pictures for the rest of us to look in on if you will. |

Is there a dog event coming up in October in NYC? |
Yorkie Day NYC We did speak to the organizer about the date but since all the marketing had gone out, the date could not be changed. :( |
I checked the site. It has not been updated. If they are going to post a list of vendors and events that is going to happen. |
I registered & got an email from them on 8/14... Hi Yorkie lovers! We are very excited to let you know that Yorkie Day is exactly one month from today! Woohoo! So far, we have almost 100 yorkies registered to attend this amazing event! We hope you are as excited as we are for all of our yorkies to get together, play, and get to know each other! We will be announcing the secret location via email very soon, so please be sure to check your email as September 14 approaches! The event will run from 2pm until 4pm. We have a couple of exciting announcements as well! Rick Caran's Jilli Dog Show will be performing at our event! Mr. Caran has trained yorkies for many years and will be bringing his "next-generation Jilli Dog" named Ruby to show off her fabulous tricks for us! In particular, Mr. Caran has successfully trained his yorkies to become the world's only poker-playing dogs! We are very excited to see Ruby perform her show, and to hear any training tips Mr. Caran has to share with us! For more information on Jilli Dog and Mr. Caran, please visit Jilli Dog - the world's only poker playing dog - one of America's top trick dogs. Check out a preview of Mr. Caran's show here: Rick Caran and Jilli Dog - Trade Show Appearance - YouTube Furthermore, Yorkie911 will also be participating in Yorkie Day! For those of you who do not know, Yorkie911 is a non-profit rescue group that is dedicated to helping lost, abandoned, or other "in-need" yorkies find foster families, until their "fur-ever" home is located. This is a very worthy cause, close to all yorkie owners' hearts, and Yorkie Day is proud to have Yorkie911 at our event. Please see Welcome for more information. Looking forward to seeing everyone on September 14!! Please remember to keep telling your friends with yorkies to register and come - the more, the merrier! :) Best regards, Laura |
I registered and got nothing. I don't know. It is expensive to go to it, the bridge and parking.. I want to make sure it is worth it. |
I hear ya ;) I'm the first exit after the city, so it's not that big of a deal for me. But...I just found out we're having a birthday dinner that night for my SIL & husband's cousin. I'll update if I get another email and/or if I hear anything. |
I just go an email from them. I was wondering who is going from here? |
Although we are pup-less for the time being, I LOVE seeing, and meeting, happy and healthy Yorkie families (especially happy and healthy YT families)! I would have loved to attend this event, and would have offered to drive, or carpool with, anyone (pups, of course, included - so long as it was safe to do so!), and house anyone in our guest room if they would have liked. Seeing that 9/14 is Yom Kippur until nightfall, I cannot attend. If there are any other events going on in/around NYC (we live in Queens, depending on "NY traffic," about 30 minutes outside of the City), I'd, for sure, love to help support the breed I love so much, and meet y'all. Wishing you all, only the best, for always :) |

Anyone going to Yorkie Day this weekend? |
Yorkie Day is here! We are all ready to go! Here is some information for any of you who have not registered yet: Guess what tomorrow is? YORKIE DAY!! We are all just so excited to see all the pups play together and have a fun time. The weather looks to be a perfect sunny and cool day! Yay! And can you believe it? We have over 150 yorkies registered to attend this event!! The location for Yorkie Day will be at Stuyvesant Square Park Dog Run from 2pm until 4pm. It is located in Manhattan, on 2nd Avenue, between 15th and 17th Streets. The dog park entrance is located on 15th between 1st and 2nd Avenues, but much closer to 2nd Avenue. It is a very large dog park, and we will be getting there earlier to set up and claim a section of the back of the dog run for all the yorkies to gather. Look for Yorkie Day signs - and yorkies of course! ;) By public transportation, you can take the 4, 5, 6 to Union Square, or the L to 3rd or 1st Avenues. We have had a few questions as to why the event is not in Central Park, as we had originally planned. Unfortunately, the City had no room for us in Central Park! :( But, the yorkies would have had to have been leashed there anyways, so this is an even better location because now they can all play with each other! :) Unfortunately, Yom Kippur is also tomorrow, and when we originally started planning the event back in May, we had no idea. We are very sorry to those who have to miss the event because of the Jewish holiday and will make sure to better check our calendars next year so everyone can come! Also, we'd like to point out that we will bring some water for the dogs, but because Stuyvesant Dog Run does not have a water hose for the dogs, it might be a good idea to bring some water for your yorkie too. We will be holding four contests for our yorkies - best costume, best trick, best in breed, and loudest bark. We will have a small prize for the winner of each contest so make sure your yorkie is ready to bring his/her A-game! ;) We will have sign-ups for the contests when you arrive. As you may recall from previous emails, we also have several special guests! We have Mr. Rick Caran and his yorkie Ruby coming to show off her fabulous tricks, which include playing poker and playing basketball! You can check out Ruby playing poker at and playing basketball at . Mr. Caran and his yorkies have appeared on Animal Planet, Disney TV, Regis and Kelly (playing Poker w/Bette Midler), Today Show, Good Morning America, News Las Vegas, Japan TV, Russian TV, and more! Schmitty the Weather Dog with Meteorologist Ron Trotta will also be appearing and doing a "pawcast" from Yorkie Day! Schmitty has appeared with Oprah, and been featured on The Regis & Kelly Show, The Ellen Show, and Access Hollywood, to name just a few of his celebrity appearances! In fact, he has already done a pawcast at the NYC premiere of "The Family," where he gave a shout-out to Yorkie Day! Please check it out here: Some of you may also know Portia and Rosie from the TV reality series Doggie Moms. Grace will be bringing her celebrity yorkies to join us at this special event, and Grace will even be judge for our contests! Aside from Doggie Moms, Portia has appeared in various media events, and she was the studio Yorkie in TV Animal Planet's 101 Yorkies. Portia was also on the cover of the issue of the magazine "Yorkshire Terriers" and has modeled for various print and online fashion ads. Yorkie911 will be participating in Yorkie Day! Yorkie911 is a non-profit rescue group that is dedicated to helping lost, abandoned, or other "in-need" yorkies find foster families, until their "fur-ever" home is located. This is a very worthy cause, close to all yorkie owners' hearts, and Yorkie Day is proud to have Yorkie911 at our event. Please see Welcome for more information. It looks like we will have a packed day full of playing, pictures, shows, and contests! Please be sure to pick up after your yorkie, and please do not leave behind any trash when you leave the park. We are very excited to see everyone tomorrow! Yorkie cheers! |
Hope Y'all Had a Blast! Hi everyone, I just wanted to let y'all know I was thinking of you guys on Saturday, and was totally there in spirit. Was wondering how the day went!!! I'm hoping all pups - ok, and Puppy Mommies too! - had a great time! If you have any pictures of your adorable pups, I'd LOVE to see them! Seeing happy, healthy puppy families together brings the biggest smile to my heart, and makes the search (and wait!) for our sweet angel so more bearable. Any and all pup pictures from your day in Central Park welcome. Yikes, is it "legal" to ask for "brag books" on YT from our fellow Yorkie lovers and neighbors in the Big Apple? (d'oh! and just when I thought I had all the Rules & Regulations down...) Lots of love, blessings, and of course, extra kisses to your babies from us, Maya (and Josh, too!) |
