Another thing I have for Sophie Kate is a QR Code Collar Tag. If she were to get lost and someone found her they can scan the QR code (more smart phones have a QR Code scan application, they are those black boxes with a white design on the inside). I got the tags at a website called Scan My Pet Please, they stay on her along with her regular tag at all times. I have two tags, one for when she is home and one for when we are travelign (I change the profile for the travel on to include the local contact information also). Scan MyPet Home QR Code Pet Tags | Scan My Pet Pls! Where lost pets are as good as found! | Specialty Dog Tags and Cat Tags | Online Pet Profile | Lost Pet Alert | Scan My Pet Please! |
I actually bought seats with a clip to attach pups harness, an airbourne pup in a car not in my plans, we also take a baby gate |
Except my thing, I would prepare enough dog food for him/her. Traveling is tired although there is fun, so make him/her full is necessary. |

What did you do to help with the car sickness I'm having that problem with Lola |
Love all the information I'm getting from everyone's lists--sooo thorough and sensible; thank you for taking the time to help and educate us rookies! I'm taking a folder for the car, which contains Piper's vet records, her rabies and micro chip tags and such. I am also including her regular leash as well as her custom made (more like maid) 25 footer. |
These items are just adds to the list of others: Shot records, chew toys for anxiety & a ball to exercise the little tots. :) |
Something that smells like home if your baby don't like to go anywhere EXCEPT home. We bought a red brick to have Prince Charming start wetting against as he refused to go for over 12 hours when we went to my sister's place once. I had to carry him to the backyard when we arrived home. He wet for almost 3 minutes [timed it]. Prince Charming needed to know it was good to go where he was at as we were traveling across country. From California to New York area. Can you imange the problem of not going for 7 days?!!! Poor baby boy. I also began feeding him in the car about 3 weeks before our trip. He learned the car was a safe place to eat and sleep. He had his special pillow as well as his chew toy with him every time we practiced going into the car. His food bowl was brought back into the house so he learned that wherever his bowl was it was safe to eat there. I left food in the bowl the entire trip just like at home. He had problems with keeping weight on so the free feedings were vital to his health. Also he never was car sick as we started out doing short trips [the length of the drive the first week back and up] then down the street and back [less than 1/8 mile]. Then around the cul de sac at the end of the road. Each time coming right back home. Then one day we went to town with grandma holding him when I went into the store. We drove home and the next week we continued going to the stores. When we left for our big trip he decided his place was on grandma's lap and that's how we traveled across country and back. Trip took 2 weeks to New York and one week home as we stopped along the way going but not so much coming. Never had a problem staying at red roof inn as they are 100 percent pet friendly. Never stay anywhere else. |
I’m just wondering what the can of pumpkin is for? |

Oh thanks for the info. I did not know that |
When traveling with my dog, I’ve found that a comfy blanket or something that smells like home helps relax him. It gives a sense of familiarity even in new environments. I also pack his regular food a bit extra so he doesn’t have to suddenly switch to something unfamiliar, which could upset his stomach. Car safety is crucial, too. I use a clip that attaches to his harness to keep him secure during the drive. If you’re looking for pet-friendly destinations for extended trips, places like Westgate River Ranch Resort offer plenty of outdoor space and accommodations. They focus on family-friendly experiences, perfect for trips with your furry companions. You can see full details about their amenities online. |
