Disney Kennels

The closest resort would be the Polynesian resort which you can walk to the TTC (ticket & transportation center) where one of the kennels is located. BUT, as of this time, there are no resorts on WDW property that cater to animals. You'd have to find a hotel off property that is pet-friendly.

The kennel at the TTC will be fairly close to the Polynesian resort because there is a walkway to it. The only other kennel close to a resort is the one at Fort Wilderness. The others are at the parks. I'm hoping Disney will eventually allow pets at the resort hotels. I figure the first ones to allow it will be the Vacation Club villas at Animal Kingdom, Saratoga Springs, the Contemporary, etc. since you "buy" into those spots. Then I figure it will be the deluxe resorts (Grand Floridian, Contemporary, Polynesian, & Animal Kingdom Lodge), then the moderates (Caribbean Beach, Coronodo Springs, etc.) and then finally trickling down to the value resorts (Pop Century & All-Star Resorts). I love Disney, but they always do everything like that strange, so I figure they'll try it at the higher end resorts since many couples stay there who have pets that are their "children" and that don't have any or few skin kids. Just my observation!

HOWEVER, the new Hilton Bonnet Creek Resort that will be within Disney property is allowing pets to be in the room. It is NOT a Disney Resort hotel, but it is in the resort property and will provide Disney Transportation. If I remember correctly, it is right inside the entrance to the resort property and right before you get to the entrance to the Caribbean Beach hotel. It's opening Oct. 1 and we are considering staying there for our first night at Disney on the 12th to check it out. Sophie is actually staying with my dad at my house while we are gone, but we are going to go over to the kennels at the TTC to check them out and ask questions. I'll report back with what I find out!

Thank you for the information!! I definately want to hear back after your trip and see what you think of the kennles and possibly the Bonnet Creek Resort. Fell free to PM me also with what you thought. Last year when we went I boarded the dogs with our, who had a great facility and they got tons and tons of love and attention, but now that we have moved to a different state I have not found any place I would be comfortable with and we have no family here. Plus I really worry about them and miss them when we are gone so hopefully by 2011 when we go back there will be a place they can stay with us!!

I was going to point that out as well. They DO allow them there. That is the only Disney hotel property that allows it though. Thankfully, they do not allow them in all the resorts--that is one policy that I am very glad they have that I hope they keep! There are some resorts in the Downtown Disney area (still on Disney property with all the perks, but not Disney owned). Not sure what their policies are, but it wouldn't hurt to check.

I'm not sure if the Disney Kennels board dogs overnight though? I know they didn't used to, but it may have changed since then. The people I know that have used them in the past rave about them. The only complaint they had was having to go back every few hours to walk their doggies--the process of actually getting there and back to one of the parks can be a pain, taking an hour to do easily.

Hi, I just went to Orlando 2 weeks ago and Chloe did stay at the Kennel in Magic Kingdom (they have a few in the various parks). The price was $18 for the whole day; they were very good, and took note of all of the things I wanted them to do for my baby (Feed her her home cooked meals....yes, I have to cook lamb, chicken, rice and mix it with her dry food, cuz she's a picky picky eater! ...... as well as her nutrical twice daily). They allowed me to bring all of her things to make her more comfortable (blankets, toys, pee pee pads, and harness) and I got them all back in the ziplock I provided them in.

They had set up her things while I was finalizing the paperwork at the front desk, and allowed me to go back there and place her in her cage myself. The place looked very clean and smelled pleasant.

When I got her back, she was as I left her, and I checked her for fleas, etc. and not a thing went wrong.

I have to say it was a good experience, even though I was uneasy at leaving her in a kennel for the first time.

Good luck and BTW take a poncho and umbrellas!, it's been raining down here in Florida all the time lately!

Yes, they do allow them at the Campground. I forgot to mention that, too! As far as I know, the Downtown Disney hotels don't allow pets. However there are a few surrounding hotels literally right outside the entrance that do, such as the Sheraton Safari hotel. We are considering staying there or at the new Hilton Bonnet Creek Resort since both are pet friendly and I want to check them out before we take Sophie. The kennels do board overnight now and the one at the TTC & I think the Kennel at Ft. Wilderness does walk the dogs for you twice, but the ones at the other parks require you to walk them yourself.
