Do you guys think it's a little obnoxios that we have to pay so much to fly with our pets considering that they don't require an addtional seat and zero care from the flight attedants? Mabe I'm missing something here. |
Maybe it's insurance reasons? But yes I do find it obnoxious! |

Ughhh! Tell me about it. I just booked ticket from CA to PA, and paid an additional $200 for my little girl. Regardless... its expensive, but worth having her with me. :) |
I think it is totally unfair as why should I pay for my dog to fly with me and the guy sitting next to me gets to bring his dirty laundry for free..:D..but having said this the airlines are in trouble and they have to figure out ways of making money and this is called free enterprise. I read the other day somewhere where now they are considering the humans weight and the luggage they bring along...:( |
I agree they are put under the seats... sometimes if the airline stewards like dogs you get to get show them off. I have on occassion paid more for their flights than mine. |

Now some airlines are making you pay for your luggage. And water and soda in the airport is twice the price that you would pay for the same items at the grocery store--yet you can only take water and soda on if you purchase it after security--in the airport. One recent flight charged $4.50 for a glass of water--you had to buy the bottle--no free drinks on Spirit Airlines. BTW they had no "spirit". The airlines have been charging for the dogs to fly under the seats for a long time--it is a money maker for them. I've heard that some airlines have done away with pillows and blankets--you have to buy them before you board the plane from airport kiosks. |
Well, we sent our daughter's 2 yorkies back to Hawaii in Feb. and that cost $300 for both and they were in the pressurized cabin where the ship live animals !!!! Probably in the dark too!!! Maybe it was better in the dark...They wouldn't even let us put them in the same crate...I cried as I left the cargo part of the airport ...They got there fine and are happy little girls...:aimeeyork:aimeeyork And also had to have a rabies test (no rabies in Hawaii) that cost $300 each and they had to was 120 days to enter to avoid quarantine...What we do for our babies... |

I think it is horrible. They are treated just like the carry on luggage and we don't have to pay extra for that...............................yet. |

Here's what I do for water. I take an empty bottle through security and then fill it up in the water fountain on the other side before I board. I've done this eight times, even when flying international, and have never had a problem. |
hm.. if you fly korean air, i read that they only charge your dog as extra luggage per kg and the limit is 5kg which is sufficient for a yorkie. ive never travelled with a dog mainly because my mickeyw ill get depressed that my parents aren't around. but i plan on doing so when i buy a new puppy in korea.. but i think its crazy how some airlines you need to get your pet vaccinated 10 days before you leave. what if your dog was vaccinated 3 months ago?? thats unfair! |

Regarding all the new charges on board... we went to Cabo last Oct. On the way there we were on Mexicana Airlines. EVERYTHING was free, even the cocktails, it was GREAT!! Can't say the same for the way back on United, there was a charge for everything it seemed! |
