Carry on pet two in same carrier? I have two yorkies and one is about 7lbs and the other is about 5-6lbs I have checked with airlines and paid for them they can go on with me as long as they both fit in the same carrier. 17L 12W 12H They do fit but it is like a perfect fit so they can stand up and lay down but thats about it there wont be a whole lot of room left with both in there. I just wanted to know if that would be safe for them to fly like that, another thing I am in Germany going to Oklaoma so it is a long flight and I just don't think they could take it going under the cabin and I don't think they can go without each other right there. Can anyone help me??? |
1 Attachment(s) Maybe you could use something like this, it's a double pet carrier. |
Thats what I need where would I find one? I have one little problem. My husband is military and we are stationed overseas, Well he deployed in Jan and we still have 4 months to go. I am going crazy so yesterday Feb23 I booked a trip to Oklahoma where my family is. For March 3rd so I have a week to figure it out! what does that carrier measure? Also what about the Vet giving me some kind of Meds to help with the long flight its going to be a good 17 hour trip all together. |

I got some meds from the vet last time we went to Oklahoma which was in July and I still have plenty left I just don't know if they are still good and I would hate to give my girls something and have a bad reaction with it. Im just not sure if for there comfort they will be able to stay in one carrier, My girls aren't XS they are Small but not tiny Lily is 6lbs, and Daisy is about 7-8lbs I just want to make sure they have enough room I have to work with a 17L, 12W, 12H carrier! |
Sherpa makes many different sizes........ find out what the airline limits are on carry-ons, and then take a look. www.petsmart.com You will want to make sure that they are both comfy in it!! |
I don't think I have time to order one and I am in Germany. I just don't want to get to the airport and them not let me take the girls on! They don't have a weight limit it just has to be a 18L 12W 12H carrier. |
I can't believe this thread was here! I have to bring both dogs on a flight to Florida and had no idea how to do that. I found the Sherpa double carrier online. The measurements are 19x11x11.25 and it goes for anywhere from $65.00 to about 88.00. |
I don't have time to order one. Heres the things. My husband is in the military and he deployed Jan 1st for 6 months we are also stationed overseas in Germany. I thought I could get through the 6 month here by myself. Well I got 2 down and can't take it. I booked the tickets for the 3rd of March so I don't think I will get the carrier in time. How much do your babies weigh? my girls aren't tiny I just want to make sure they get on the plane with me if that means them be in the same carrier with enough room to lay down an sleep. Is that wrong of me to think that way? |
Happpy Traveler Happy Traveler from Ark Naturals is what we used with our 6 cats and 5 dogs when we moved from Maryland to North Carolina (8 hours). All animals were fine and semmed to do very well on it. The cats were quiet the whole ride. It was great. Jus thought Id throw hat out there for those of you who sad you wish you could find something. |
What is that??? I have some pills left over from last time Daisy went with us but I do not know if they are still good that was July so...? |

Thanks I feel like it would be wrong for me to make them fly so tight but if they new what would be ahead of them under the plane they would be happy tight!!! I just don't want my girls going down there!!!! |
Well I called the airline again just to make sure on the size and they said they two could not go together after they already told me they could and that is why I went with Delta in the first place! The lady said just to tell them whats going on as far as me taking both of them my Husband would take one and me take the other if he wasn't deployed so she said to just explain and they shouldn't have a problem and when I get to the next flight not to make a show of them so they wont notice both and maybe not say anything. Should I take the chance? |
Ask the airline your flying with if once you are up in the air if you can take the dogs out and out them on your knee... I know my sister flew from tampa florida to syracuse New York and Sara was on her knee the whole trip.. only in the cage for getting on the plane and going up... just a thought.. and if you can do this. then two in the same cage will not be a problem..I would find out.. It is a long long flight.. I think maybe you should also ask if they can go any other way... in cargo... I would not always recommend that, but some flights their cargo is ok for pets.. again depending on the airlines.. Hope you get home alright with you babies.. |
No they can't come out. I don't want them to go under they will freak I am going to get some stuff from the vet to help them sleep. Last time I flew with one she was asleep the whole time. |
Wow, Delta is harsh. We flew American Airlines and they said that our doggies could be in the same carrier. They were only in the Sherpa carrier for takeoff and landing. They were the stars of the flight and the flight attendants oohed and ahhed over them. Maybe because they were littermates it was okay? |
Well at first they said they could and now they are saying no but I think the lady I talked to is stupid she couldn't even give me measurements for the carrier so.... How big are your babies? My girls Lily is like 8inc tall and 12 long and Daisy is 13-14 long and 10 tall. Lily is about 5-6 punds and Daisy is 8.5 maybe. Do you think they will be fine in the same carrier? They will only let me take one. |
Just wanted to let yall know I found a carrier I got a stroller one that you can remove the carrier so I would not have to carrier so much! I hope they don't have a problem. I took the carrier off the stroller and open the door Daisy jumps right and and sleeps in there it is so cute!! Now my other one has not she doesn't like it so I am going to have to work on that now til Monday. The carrier I got was 18 1/2 long 11 W and 11 1/2 H I hope that is not to big the air line said that would be fine but hey you never know. Has anyone ever used a stroller carrier? Thanks for all the help |
I know it is too late for this trip, but have you ever checked with Lufthansa ? I dont know what their regulation is, but couple of yrs ago when i went to germany (where i am from) it was a 9 1/2 hr nonestop flight, and i am on the westcoast ! Just a heads up for next flight ! Wish you luck, and i hope they can fly with you ! Keep us posted ! |
If you're not satisfied with what this woman told you, I would call back and speak to a supervisor, get her name, extension, etc., etc. I would also tell anyone who might think of not allowing you on that you want to speak to a supervisor. I would also tell them that your husband is fighting for this country and their freedom! I hope you don't need to argue with anyone and it all goes smoothly for you and the dogs. |
Well I have called about a 1,000 times I bought my plane tickets based on if my girls would be able to go on with me or not I would not be flying home if they couldn't go on. I do not trust them going under I just don't understand I have been told every time I call that it is fine don't worry about it and then that one lady said no I am not going to worry if I have to get into it with them then I will. They know its military I got my plane tickets through military. I really don't think I will have a problem. I just don't want anyone to give me a hard time.I have enough going on here and that would just top it off! My girls are my kids and they mean the world to me I could not ever leave them behind nor would I put them under I just can't bring myself to do it! If I have to go my husband being deployed then I will but I really hope I wont have to go that far with it! Thank you for all the help! |
when I traveled with my 2 in 1 bag - no one could have cared at the airport or on the plane. I think these airlines have so many rules, but on the plane those flight attendants have so many other things to think about. Security just made over my dogs, as did the other passengers. Glad you found something to work for you -- I know that was a big fret for me finding the right carrier. I hate to think how much time I spent online & in shops looking! Have a safe, uneventful trip! |
It has taken me so long to find one I am in Germany and booked the trip in a week so I didn't have time to look online and order one I had to find one here and I do not know how to get anywhere here in germany so I has 4 pet stores to work with. I just hope they don't give me a problem with the stroller I know the carrier is fine (I hope) but are they going to make me take the stroller on as a carry one? I have to take a back pack to for my computer and the passports and the girls paper work they have to have everything from the Vet so I don't know how they will take all that! |
I always have my husband with me!!! I am just scared and I am sure I have no reason to be but I am in another country (going crazy) Like I said I don't know how to get anywhere but to the base it is horrible I just need to get back to Oklaoma with my family!!! I wont have to come back until a week before my husband! I just can't take it here by myself no friends, no job , nothing but my girls and my husband which is not here! I just don't want any problems at the airport! |
I think you should say your babies are "mommy and baby." They will let a mommy travel together with her pup, or at least the airlines have told me this. Because our babies are so small, people really can't tell if they are full grown or pups ;) |
Well I have a full bllod yorkie and then I have a half maltesse/ half yorkie so they don't look alike but I told the air lines they are sisters. They told me as long as they are the same breed which they pretty much are and if they get along then it would be fine. I am just scared. |
Also my girls aren't that small my little one is she is 5-6 pounds and then my older one is 8-9 pounds they will both fit in the carrier together an with both of them in it, it is 18-19 pounds all together. They are just going to be a little tight fit I hate to put them through that but if they knew what it would be like under the plane they would thank me haha. Plus I don't want to go through that stress of them under there. |

With a stroller, you should be able to push it down to where they tag rollon luggage & baby strollers - take the bag off & let the stroller part go - sure you already had that part figured out. I also carried on a small blanket - I put this up against one of the vented ends of the bag when I sat next to the window and could feel cold air pouring out onto the floor of the airplane, so the babies wouldn't be too cold. You are going to have a very long flight. I did get my 2 out and they slept under a blanket in my lap for a great deal of time. ;) You may need to do this, when you're wide awake - just with 1 at a time, to give the other furbaby room to stretch out. |
