Hugs and love for you and Harry. I pray things go well today, that Harry will soon be free from pain, and that he covers quickly. You have so many people wo care about you (me included), and Yorkietalk prayers are very powerful. |
Sally, I'm really sorry. I wrote Harry instead of Andy. I know the difference, but please excuse my error. I wish each and every one of you health and a life free from pain and troubles. |
Andy Dear Sally. Thanks so much for the update and for making the time for us when life is so hectic. So happy the heart scan went well and that Andy is all set to go. Praying that all will go well and that tonight you will all feel happier and relieved the surgery is successful and done. Glad you were able to take Harry for a walk for him, and to soothe your mind. Prayers, love, and peace. Hoping for good news soon. WTG Andy!!! Dot ((((((oxoxoxo))))) |
Hey Sally, the Yorkie Talk prayer warriors are all hovering around Andy to see him through this procedure today. You are all in our thoughts and I'm sending love and hugs too. |
Sally, I am glad to hear the heart scan went well and surgery will go as planned. Keeping Andy in my prayers for a successful surgery and have a great recovery. |

:): Good evening all my wonderful YT Prayer Warriors!!! :D Just home from my late afternoon/early evening visit, and thought I'd just report in!! :) Andy was sat up in bed, requesting a large cappuccino and some lemon wafers!!!!!!! Which I gladly went and got for him from the restaurant. He's very, very pale and still in a lot of pain (morphine clicker) but then he'd been pushed and pulled and prodded and goodness knows what else for 3 hours, so his nerves are bound to be very jangly. He also went to the loo while I was there - another good sign.... :D So now it's upstairs for Harry and I, accompanied by The Voice (poor neighbours....:D), all scrummied up in bed with a big mug of hot chocolate and a packet of dark chocolate digestive biscuits.... Thank you all, once again, for all your wonderfulness - you're truly seeing us through a very yucky time, and I soooo appreciate it :) xxx |
Andy Wow, sitting up in bed and wanting coffee?? All systems 'go' so far, great! Sorry he is in pain, but hopefully the morphine is making it bearable. You both must be so relieved that the surgery went well and is OVER :) What a difference a day makes?! Thinking of you sitting comfortably in bed with your hot C and goodies and Harry looking hungrily at you with sad eyes.....where are my treats? So happy for you both, it was tough surgery but I am sure the doc did a great job. You both will sleep well tonight with the trauma of the past days over. :) Praying Andy recovers well and and is back to painless living again soon. Pleasant dreams and have a well deserved night's sleep. Love and warm wishes. Hugs. Dot oxoxoxoxo |

I am relieved to hear all went well. I love that Andy was asking for food. That's amazing after the ordeal you both have been through. If the pain management is still leaving him in terrible pain, please be vocal about it. I pray that, in no time, Andy no longer needs any medication for pain and that all of this is behind him. I hope you both can relax and sleep tonight and that tomorrow is much brighter for both of you. |
Sally, have had you folks on my mind all day! So glad Andy is alert and sitting up😄. Keep us posted! Love and hugs:D |
So good to hear, Sally! |
Just seeing this. Happy the surgery is behind him. Sending prayers he heals quickly |
Sally, I am just seeing your news now -- sorry I am late. I am very, very happy to hear surgery went well and that Andy is doing well. Praying for his pain to subside and for a speedy recovery. Sending love to you and Harry, and looking forward to hearing Andy is back home with you. |
Andy and Sally Sally, I am just seeing your post.:) Great news, I could just cry, happy tears of course.:heart to |
Just checking in on Andy, Harry and you, Sally and hoping things are on course. How's our boy? |
Which one....Andy or Harry?!!!!!? ;) :D Well, Andy's doing just great - picking him up from hospital tomorrow morning at 10 a.m....it was 'keyhole', so Nurse Sally will have to deal with all the aftermath.... :D Approx. 4-6 weeks off work. A stapled slit in his neck about 4" going downwards. Loads of pain (still managed by morphine and tramadol) and quite bloody - Nurse Sally will receive a pack of dressings in various sizes - plus gloopy dressings to cover those, for when he bathes or showers.... As for Harry - well, every time Harry + I scrummy up in bed (me with my naughty biccies etc. etc.) I take a little bowl of stuff that I've prepared for him earlier - yesterday it was a cooked chicken breast, delicately chopped - tonight it's some cooked chicken livers...alongside his doggy biscuits. You ALL are soooo good - I know you're all totally on our side and that's really shone through and kept me going. The fact that Andy's coming home so soon bears witness to that. Thank you all, love you to bits, and wish I could meet you all in person :heart to xxx |
That's wonderful news. I think Andy will heal faster at home surrounded by his loved ones. I hope his pain lessens each day. |
Why Andy, of course - he's the boy with all the ouchies but jeez, Sally, coming home tomorrow??? Yikes and yikes again. They run them through the hospital these days before you can turn around and say "boo"! Sounds like you have a pretty tough job nursing once he comes home. Rest up today and tonight because it's going to be rocky this next week. Who could believe he would go in Sat., have spinal surgery and come home Monday? But these days with all the germs and yuckies you can catch in the hospital, it's probably safer at home - just 40 times the work for you! Hugs to Harry for being Mommie's bedtime buddy and getting you through the long evenings. Deep breath now, you can do this! |
So very happy to hear he will be coming home tomorrow! Nurse Sally is the best medicine along with Harry! Praying Andy heals quickly. Hugs to all! |
The two guys and you:) Thank you for the latest news. It is wonderful that Andy is progressing so well that they are sending him home. But for you it must be scary to have to do the post op nursing, hope you feel comfortable doing this? Did you have a choice about bringing him home so soon or could he have stayed in a skilled nursing care facility until he is stronger? I do hope that the NHS will provide some help from a visiting nurse. All the pain and wound management will be hard on you and as Jeanie says, you need to get your strength up to do this. Will he have a neck restraint to keep that area still when he moves around and sleeps? As you can see, I am no Florence Nightingale and don't think i would do a very good job;(. I am so sorry that the pain is still substantial and hope that Andy will have what is necessary to ease the pain, and that this painful period will soon be over, and his healing speedy. So sweet that you are making little care packages for Harry too so he doesn't feel left out when you are resting in bed with your yummies. Thinking of you and praying that being home with your tender loving care will soon make Andy better. Take care of you too, and make time every evening for your Sally and Harry relaxing time. Wishing you all well. Lots of love and hugs, Dot oxoxoxo |
I am so happy to hear Andy is on the road to recovery and coming home soon. It will be so nice to have your sweet family all under one roof while Andy continues his recovery. Oh my, you guys have been through a lot, and I hope it all gets easier from here on out. Hugs to you all :) Oh, and Harry must be absolutely loving the treats in bed.... Sally, you are such a spoiler to the guys in your life :D |

Andy will have to have the staples removed in 10 days time - and then a follow-up appointment in 6 weeks to check all's well. When I went to see him a little while ago he seemed a lot brighter...the thought of being home with us has bucked him up - which is all that matters to me. No neck restraint...but I have made up the bed in the guest room, and Harry + I shall be camping out in there, for the next few says at least (terrified of one of us touching it, or making him move in a funny old way!). Once again, all of my wonderful YT friends....THANK YOU. I truly mean that....thank you for being there, from the 3 of us :) xxx |
So happy Andy will soon be home, he'll be more comfortable home then the hosp. and that's what matters. Nurse sally and aid Harry will help in his healing process. There's no place like home. (((hugs))) to you, Andy and Harry. |
Andy Poor Andy he sure has been through the mill with surgeries and hope this is IT! It seems that you have experience of complex post op nursing, and I am sure that will help you through this one. I wish I had those skills, as nowadays hospitals dont keep you in too long after surgery. I wonder how people who aren't good nurses manage? Happy that he was in good spirits tonight and he must be looking forward to his comfortable home bed tomorrow. :) Praying all goes well for the discharge and that Andy responds well to your wonderful care. I guess there will be no picking up Harry for some time! Until the next time. Love and hugs, Dot :) |
Just popping in to check on Andy's progress and can see he is soon to be home. Nurse Sally, you seem to be prepared for this duty! I'm sure Andy will be glad to be home and Harry has probably been wondering where he is. Prayers and hugs!! |
I'm so happy to hear your hubby is coming home and is doing well after his surgery. I'll be praying for a great recovery. I know how hard it is to nurse an injured hubby. Mine broke his back about 18 months ago and it was tough. Make sure to take care of yourself as well😀 |
:D We're HOME!!!!!! :D Andy's all tucked up in bed, sort of semi-sitting, with a pillow protector on his top pillow. I've put his 'hospital table' kind of over him to protect him from the whirling dervish that is Harry.... with all his bits and pieces on it - the remote control being his No. 1 priority....:D I was shown, in great detail, how to change the dressing, and how to cover it all up when he bathes or showers (which I'm NOT doing today...sorry!!!). He looks really pale and exhausted - I think even the car journey home took it out of him. With all the medication that he's on, I'm hoping that he'll get quite a lot of sleep this afternoon :xfingers: And then there will be roast beef for dinner tonight...try to build him up a bit, he's lost over 2 stone since Christmas - but not in a good way - more like muscle wastage, poor man. So that's the story so far - and thank you all once again for your lovely thoughts and wishes :) Sally, Andy + Harry xxx |
Welcome home to Andy, now let the healing begin. I am sure he is comforted to be in the good hands of Sally and her assistant Harry. |
Andy Welcome home Andy, my, I bet the bed feels good:) I can imagine you are exhausted after the transfer, but you will feel more energetic soon after a rest among the soft cushions. Nurse Sally, it sounds like you are all ready after the hospital training to give all the TLC Good that you got the anti Harry table thing worked out last time. But I am sure he will try to get up on the bed for a tummy rub. I can smell the lovely roast beef from here, aaaah! Roast potatoes, sprouts, and Yorkshire pud too I hope? That should put a smile on Andy's face and some weight on his body! Harry might even get a taste too? Get well soon Andy, and hope you all enjoy the delicious dinner. Love and hugs, Dot :-) |
