Tibbe had his Cerenia shot still in effect when I picked him up and ate little, mostly slept last night and has had two small breakfasts of just his hepatic canned food this morning. He's alert but not frisky and feisty but it keeping his food down and just taking it easy. My A-C decided to leak yesterday so was dealing with getting the technician out here yesterday and getting it fixed up and had him clean out the kitchen drain while he was here and then had to go pick up Tibbe at the vet, get him squared away and some dinner in him last night so didn't have a chance to get online and update. He had some canned food "soup" last night for dinner and kept that down and did fine all night. We both slept well. We came home from the vet with a new supply of Cerenia pills for nausea just in case nausea returns so he won't have to be so sick and then we can get some more tests done to see if something more going on. Hoping today to just take it easy and chill out with Tibbs and watch some HD movies on TV with these "new eyes", now that I can see in HD again. It's like I have a new toy and want to play with it. Eyes are just GREAT! |
Fabulous news!!! Hope you both enjoyed your movie date today. |
Just seeing this now as I haven't been online lately...sending prayers for you Jeanie and sweet Tibbe!! Get well soon! |
I am so glad your surgery went well, it must be so exciting to be able to see properly again!!:happyboun I hope your next two surgeries are just as successful. How is Tibbe? I hope he is feeling much better and you both got a chance to rest yesterday. |
So far so good this time with Tibbe. He's kept food down yesterday and after breakfast today and is sleeping right now. I got brave enough to go almost exclusively to his full hepatic-only diet since this recent bout of nausea and so far, no extra itching! Every time in the past I went full hepatic, he started itching pretty quickly so I'd add more of his former Hill's I/D GI into it until we got to half and half for the last 4 months. Now, gradually, since Saturday, we're back to straight Hill's I/D canned hepatic with only a few kibbles of the Hill's I/D GI and he's still on smaller-than-usual portions 3 - 4 x daily rather than two 2 x daily. I suspect yesterday he wasn't quite back up to snuff since he didn't invite play as he usually does but hopefully today he'll be in my face, wanting me to chase him and get his toy from his mouth. He'll get a toy and get right in front of me and tease and tease me and start to run off, looking over his shoulder to see if I am going to chase after him. If I don't, he'll bark at me and pick up his toy and start to run again and watch me over his shoulder to see if I'm coming after him and keeps doing that until I give in and chase him or tell him "no". Tibbe doesn't suffer "no" that well, though. Sometimes I can get a bark in response to a "no", even though he'll stop doing what he's told to, I also get his sharp opinion about it. Then, likely as not, he'll leave the room or go get in his airline carrier/bed at the end of the couch and shun me for telling him "no". It's good to see him feeling better and eating hungrily! |
So happy to read that he seems to be on the mend, keep getting better Tibbe. Fingers crossed there's no itching this time with the food. ha ha I can just see Tibbe...running off and looking hopefully over his shoulder to see if you're going to chase him! It's so funny when they complain, Pebbles grumbles sometimes if she doesn't get her way, it's such a funny sound. They certainly like to voice their opinions don't they! I hope you are feeling well too Jeanie and your back/ hip is ok, take care of yourself, hopefully you are getting a lot of rest.:) |

Taking care of the back for a change. Normally I'm not too careful of it and just do what I want to do, lift what I want and deal with the consequences later for a bad day or two but after these last few weeks, I've learned a hard lesson to lighten up on the back or it can make life utterly miserable. Kiss Pebbles for me and pray for us! Whew! We're going into a hot spell of 102 degrees today or tomorrow and around that for the next few days! Thank goodness for air conditioning is all I've got to say! |
Hi Jeanie, I'm so glad to read this update on Tibbe. I'm sure it's been a huge relief that he's been able to eat and keep his food down. ;) It's wonderful to see you're so happy with your new found sight also. I can only imagine how thrilled you must be! :) Continuing to pray for your precious boy. |
dog Happy news about you and Tibbee. Isn't it a blessing to be able to see better! Also that Tibbs is acting like his ole self and eating and playing. You are like me, Yorkies are so important and when they are down so are we! I love your texts and am so glad you and your faithful friend and sweet dog Tibbee are better! |
It's kind of a step forward and one backward. At about 10:45 am and again just now, Tibbe has a mucus-filled stool. Not diarrhea - there was form just a lot of mucus. Guess I segued him to his mostly-canned food too quickly. After his recent bout of nausea and his still lack of his old full zest, I went ahead and hurried him into eating just the canned Hill's I/D Hepatic diet with little of his Hill's I/D GI kibble included - trying to get his protein intake down quickly. But for some reason, that seemed to cause the mucus and he's not baiting me to play with him. He's half-heartedly tried in twice since Monday but nothing like his usual self. He is, however, eating normally and all that. No more vomiting bile. Think it was too quick a transition to just mostly the canned hepatic from the old half and half we were doing - half canned Hill's I/D hepatic and half Hill's I/D GI kibble? |
I'm sorry for your roller coaster ride of emotions, Jeanie. I was so happy reading how good Tibbe has been acting, and I just love his spunk, attitude, and sass. Actually I seem to love everything about your sweet boy. I don't know for sure, but it seems like any more swift change could cause the mucus. That should get better fairly quickly I think. You are a great mom! I shared your training tips about leash training with a close friend of mine who just got a seventh month old schnauzer poodle cross. She said they're really helping her. I pray that both you and Tibbe heal quickly. Be well, my friend. |
Praying hard for a happy ending, please Tibbe be well!!! |
Oh Jeanie, I'm just seeing this thread. I'm so happy that your surgery was so successful! Maybe awesome would be the better word ;) Now if Mister Tibbe could get back on his feet... You are both in my thoughts and prayers!!! Hugs to you, Jeanie and a hug and kiss to sweet Tibbe from Jasper and me. |
It does sound mostly positive for you both. Continued prayers... |
Thanks for keeping us updated on yourself & Tibbe. I just LOVE "pup tales" about Yorkies and it made me smile to read about your darling boy. I hope he's more regular now; I know food changes are hard on some. It sure will be great if the vets figure out what's making him sick...I KNOW the feeling well. Give him a kiss from us! |
