Hi Michelle. Just wanted to say you KNOW your YT family is praying for your fil & I hope you hear soon how to help him going forward. My dh step mom had a brain anurism several years ago & luckily she is ok now. It's so hard when we become caregiver/helpers to our parents because they are often "older & wiser". |
Just checking in for a update. Hope all is well |

I just got home from the hospital and it has been a very long day. It turns out the mini stroke was an acute deep brain stroke. It affected the left front temporal lobe. No paralysis but it has affected his thought process, memory and reasoning. He can talk but a lot of it is gibberish. He will be evaluated by a rehab team tomorrow, speech pathologist, occupational therapist and another therapist that I can't remember. The stroke was caused they think by a blood clot from his heart. His had cardiac arrhythmia ( I hope that is correct, we were given so much info today ) when we got to the hospital and they think that is what caused the clot. He is like a two year old child right now and its so very sad. We appreciate all the prayers. Thanks so much for being such good friends and prayer warriors. |

Keeping your FIL and MIl in my prayers. I am so glad you were able to talk them into going today. |
I'm so sorry your family is going through this. I pray your FIL will get better. Please take care of yourself, too, and know that we care. |
You have him where he needs to be now. When these elders decide they are going to continue to tell you what they will allow you to do and not allow you to do, your hands are tied....you did an excellent job getting him where you got him, at the earliest he would allow. Will continue to pray that he can possibly get some improvment from rehab. Be sure they have a cardiologist see him...if he has an arrhythemia, probably atrial fibrillation which is notorious for throwing clots, he should have been on an anticoagulant for that arrhythemia when he was diagnosed with that arrhythemia. Make sure the follow up with that, or he will throw another clot. |
so glad you got him to go...sorry the news wasnt fabulous sending many prayers and hugs to you. |

His doctor did say that..here is the horrible thing. He has had arrhythemia for years and his primary physician has never refered him to a cardiologist. They did have a cardiologist consult and he is on medication now. Why in the world he hasn't been on something before I will never understand. Knowing my inlaws he may have been referred to a cardiologist and they cancelled the appointment. It is frustrating dealing with them, they are so set in their ways and do not realize the dangers associated with not keeping appointments and going for follow up exams. I hope this has made my MIL see the consequenses of their actions. |
