Just wanted to say if your Mom does decide to leave, she can use a wheelchair to the front door of the hospital, where an ambulance can be waiting to transport her. |

Jason, I am sorry to hear of the frustrating response from the doctors. Praying for your mom and you. Carla, my sweet friend, sending more {{{{{{hugs}}}}}}. |
Hi everyone, my Mother wanted me to let you know that the Rapid Response Team now have an IV started again. Hopefully this one will last until the Echocardiogram early in the morning. I believe my Mom is feeling a little better than she's been these past few days, knowing all of you care. I can see it's also helped her to not be as frightened, knowing others have been through this also and understand her fears. I brought a package from her home that had been delivered yesterday, I knew it would be something for her Yorkie. Of course she was all smiles when I opened the box and held up pink pajamas for Yazmin! Even the nurses here in ICU were passing the PJ's around. Mom said the PJ's were from YorkieTalk and that she wants to thank Kristin, Max and Teddy's Mom? Thank all of you for being there for my Mother, She's kept this page up for me so I'm able to try and keep you updated. I will do my best to let you know the test results & if I am able to have her transferred tomorrow. Jason |
Oh, I see who my Mom's speaking of now, Thank you Maximo. My Mom was so happy to receive the pink pajama's for Yazmin today, they really made her smile. |

So glad they hav a IV started just in case. You are doing a wonderful job of keeping us informed. Hope you both get a little rest tonight And who couldn't smile when we get a package for our yorkies. You know we all are crazy dog people :) :). And we wear that badge proud. Praying for answers in am |
Jason, I am very happy to hear that your mom has an IV line now. Praying for more good news. I'm glad Yazmin's pink pajamas made your mom smile. :) Carla, I am praying for you to be well and to be back home soon. I'm glad your son is there. Rest tonight and know that you have many people here thinking of you and praying for you. |
How good is that news!!! An IV going and I'm sure they got blood and now are running tests. Thank goodness. It is high time! Oh, it is so good to know Carla is feeling better and I know the fact that you are there is everything to her. Hopefully her testing tomorrow will show what caused the clot and appropriate treatment started. IMO, this all should have long ago been done! How good of you to bring her YT box to her at the hospital and the PJ's sound cute. I'm glad they made her smile and I know Kristin will be so pleased, too. Talking and thinking about our dogs is good medicine any old time! Take care of her and be a strong advocate for her. Ask for and get second opinions. When she is stable enough, I would get her to the hospital recommended by Yorkiemom1 via ambulance where she can have the excellent care she needs. There are Careflight or other similar ground and air ambulances all over, if needed. You are very kind and gracious to keep updating us and a truly exceptional young man, Jason. Give Carla a hug and a kiss from me and all of us. |
Just back in to see how your mom is doing today, glad to read the IV is in and praying for answers and postive results. I'm glad the little pink P.J.'s brought a smile to her face and love in her heart. Carla, you are in my thougts and prayers. Jason, you are doing a great job with your mom, I know she is so proud! |
Jason thank you so very much for updating us, you are doing great! Hopefully you can have her moved to a more qualified facility as Yorkiemom1 suggested. I'm glad the pjs made her smile, they sound adorable....keeping you and Carla in my prayers, will check back for updates as you can post...again thank you Jason, you are a Godsend |
I am just seeing this and read through all the pages. Carla, I am keeping you in my prayers. Your son has been so wonderful with updating us on everything. He is a blessing for you. Hope you rest up tonight and will check for updates. |
I am sure that gift from Maximo to her baby Yazmin REALLY put joy in her heart! If I were you Jason, I would go ahead and follow thru in the morning with that neurologist at Akron General, and see about getting her transferred. Your mother has NOT been treated with a well established, evidenced based, "stroke protocol" and that is very important. The mere fact that she has been without an IV access since admission, has had me terrified, son. She has been having chest pain that has essentially gone untreated....at the very least, she should have had serial cardiac enzymes, serial 12 lead EKGs, Troponin levels drawn since admission, which would have indicated if she was having a cardiac issue. She has essentially had nothing done to treat her. From what I think I am understanding from your posts, she is only going to have an EKG done tomorrow....that is absolutely minimal they should be doing for her. But that is good....you do not want them to get into invasive procedures and go way beyond their scope of practice. You call that neurologist tomorrow, speak to him and tell them what has been done, and that you want her moved where she can get the care she needs. Let him know what little has been done, and that she just NOW got an IV started this evening. Be sure you let him know this was not your hospital of choice....it is where the ambulance took her in the emergency, from the initial place. (Jason, tell this other doctor you have a cousin in Houston that works at Methodist Hospital in Fondren CV-ICU and she is the one that got you his name, referred to her by a neurovascular surgeon she works with at Methodist...that will stroke his ego and he will be more likely to accept her as a patient.) He will then tell you what to do if he does accept her.....you then tell her attending you have called this other doctor, and you STILL want your mother transferred asap.....this doctor has been referred by a neurovascular surgeon from Methodist Hospital in Houston Medical Center, and he has agreed to take your mother. You have to be bold and steadfast....dont let him intimidate you. You could OWN that hospital and they would all be working for YOU if something happens to your mother and her chart is audited by a lawyer! You are doing a super job Jason....you just be bold and forthright....dont back down. |
Jason, I forgot to tell you what your "cousin's" name in Houston is....Judy! That would be ME, cousin!!! If it will help get your momma moved, I will gladly be your cousin...give "Aunt Carla" a hug from me! Tell her to have NO FEAR!!! |
Thank your for keeping us updated, Jason. I'm happy to see they finally got an IV in her. And, I know it made her briefly feel better to see Yazmin's little jammies :) Please, look into what your "cousin" is saying. Can't beat having good connections! Still have you in my prayers, Carla! |
