Dh surgery Sitting in the waiting room looks to be another long day. Found out this morning there will be another surgery. Today they will take out hardware and pack with a type of beads to help with the infection he has had all along. Mind you dh ask about this every time and they said not to worry. It is like the size of a pimple that has leaked. Anyways the nurse said today it will be a month or more before he will have the fusion. I really wanted to get it done in this year for insurance deductible. Okay trying to stay positive. He will be going into surgery soon. We also were told he would be the second surgery you can not call till 8:15 the night before to find out what time you have to report. And it was 5:45am. Had to leave our home at 2:30am so not much sleep. So another reason to be crabby. Okay sorry just a little upset this morning. But it will pass. You all have a great day :) |
I'll sure be praying for your husband and that his surgery goes well. Keep us updated as to how he is going when you can and don't forget to take a little care of yourself. Rest when you can and maybe stop for a nice dinner on your way home after you leave the hospital. |
prayers for you and your dh. you have every right to be crabby!!! we are here for you to vent to anytime. hugs. |
Oh my! Praying for your DH. Hugs to you.... |
Oh I will be spending all my time in the hospital. They said he would be here 2 to 4 days. I will get a hotel across the street later today. I will have lots of time for my iPad. Thank goodness it gives me something to do. My mom came with me. So that is nice I just hope his pain level is okay. He has been so good but how can you not start to get a little down :( I will try to be upbeat and positive. But at times I wonder. It could be much worse that is for sure. |
So glad to hear your mom is with you. Keeping up your spirits now has got to be hard. Keeping his & your mind busy as you can with distractions as you know will help a lot - anything to avoid thinking and worrying. Praying for all of you. :) |
Gosh...I'm so sorry this has dragged on so long for both of you. I think of you guys often since I know how hard NOT doing what you love can be. Hang in there lady! |
Sending prayers for your husband that surgery will go smoothly and that his pain will be manageable. I'm glad your mom is there to support you. |
I'm praying for you and your husband. This has been a long hard year for you both. Sending hugs. Valerie |
Well he is out of surgery and we are in a room. He is having pain but hopefully we will get that under control. Have not talked to the surgeon yet hopefully soon. Attaching what they took out. And thank you all so much for all the kind words and prayers http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/...6fab623af1.jpg |
I am very happy to hear surgery went well and I hope the doctors are able to manage your husband's pain. Praying you both have a peaceful night. |
Glad he's awake! Hope they can get that pain controlled soon. Those first 2 hours after waking up are very grim painwise. |
Yes the pain is getting better. Now they are treating with lots of antibiotics Just put a second IV in. Because pain meds and this antibiotic can not go through same IV surgeon said things looked good but have some questionable area. Have to wait for cultures to come back. I don't understand why they didn't worry about this before Anyways will keep you all updated On a better note when we left this morning. DH says to Riley. I sure wish I could take you with. He loves his yorkies he told all three dogs he would miss them. Riley and he have really really bonded in this year. When I get ready for work both Riley and Lily sit on his lap as to say you may leave us but he won't. They have been great therapy :) |
Praying for things to continue go well.... dogs can be sooo cute!:D |
Yes we just skyped with the daughter and the dogs. And you can tell Riley is put out with him being gone. But we got to see all three and that always makes us both so happy |
Today is good been up walking and can put some weight on it So that is looking up. Sounds like we may have to go home with a IV for antibiotics Just maybe as a precaution. Not sure on that yet. So a better day :). Now just waiting to see when we can go home guessing in a day or two |
That is wonderful to hear he is doing better.good thoughts and blessings to you both |
I am very happy to hear your husband is doing well and will be discharged soon. How fun that you Skyped with your daughter and the dogs. :) |
Ann, just now seeing your updates...wow your poor hubby, all that hardware being removed has to feel some better. I pray that this is the light at the end of the tunnel for you guys. You deserve a much better 2013!!!! |
Continuing prayers for your DH. Hugs....to you both. |
So glad to hear that hubby is progressing well. I know this has to be a huge strain on everyone - especially with the holiday season upon us. I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers. Boy what a pile of hardware they removed. Sure hope that this is the beginning of the end of his problems. Recovery can be a long hard haul, that I know from experience - try to stay positive. |
Well, for sure Chattiesmom would know! We are all wishing you well and praying for a speedy and uncomplicated healing process. :ghug::ghug::ghug::ghug::ghug::ghug: |
Thanks everyone. Chattiesmom did you have a similar crushed area? I know you have mentioned it before. I am sure hoping in time this will be much better. They have said another six months. Still will be the fusion surgery but at least six weeks out or longer. Depending on healing of this surgery. Some days you feel like you know what's going on exactly and other days you wonder what the heck they never said that before. I do like our surgeon but at times it is easy to say huh. I am ready for some kind of normal whatever that maybe from here on out. Again I appreciate all your kind words |
Sounding encouraging that he's going better. It's time he got a little relief. I'm so praying for relief for him for Christmas this year!!! |
Just wanted to say I'm so glad that your hubby is recovering well from surgery and that his pain is being managed. Be sure that you rest when you can. I will be praying for a speedy recovery :). Take care.... |
Good news. We get to go home tomorrow morning. Did put a picc line so will be doing antibiotics at home for up to six weeks. So will be playing nurse once again Also will have a in home nurse once a week to draw blood and clean the site. If nothing else I am learning a ton of information. But do not ever want to use it again I will be happy to see my pups. We do FaceTime so I do get to see them but I need to cuddle with them |
Ann, I hope you and your husband are home and he is not in any pain. Praying he heals well from this surgery. |
