Gallbladder surgery tomorrow
 
Well, I couldn't put off having my surgery any longer. Surgery begins at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow morning!! It has been 3 months since I cancelled the last surgery appointment. I'm just asking for prayers for a safe outcome and that it can be done by laparoscopy. The surgeon has already told me I was a poor candidate for it because of a past scar in that area, but she would try.

Good luck Lila!! Prayers going up that you can have the laproscopic surgery. I had it done about 15 years ago and recovery time is not bad at all.

Thank you everyone. I'm off to bed as I have to get up at 4 a.m. I don't know why I had the appointment clerk make the surgery so darned early!!

Split the surgical area when you move, cough, or deep breath. It is important to move, cough, and deep breath even though it hurts.

In hope you recover quickly.

Im back home! Surgery was done by Laparoscopy! Praise the Lord! I am trying to walk and cough but it hurts so stinking' much. The doc gave me Tramadol for pain but it doesn't make me sleepy nor does it seem to be helping with the pain very much. Is it supposed to make me drowsy? I would really like to sleep some. They also didn't send any anti-nausea med which I could have used already. I know it's only going to get better and I'm just so thankful it is over.

So glad you are home my friend and it's all behind you now. Now, chill out, lay your butt down and get some much needed rest!:)

I missed this thread. Glad your home. And hope you will be able to get some sleep tonight. Maybe hold a pillow on your tummy when you cough. Prayers you feel much better soon

Thank goodness they were able to do your surgery via laparoscopy!! You will be pretty sore for a few days...but by this time next week it will be almost back to normal. Get some rest and feel better soon:)

Wow, am I sore and swollen!! I guess it has to get worse before it gets better. I'm having a very hard time getting up from a sitting and lying position. Just so sore! I'm going to make it, though, and I'm so glad its behind me!! The dh took off 2 days and has been spoiling me.

To get up from a lying position, ROLL ONTO your side first, then drop your legs off the side of the bed while you are pushing your upper body up from the mattress with your arm....that way you dont use those stomach muscles (like trying to do crunches) and your legs will help re distribute your weight and make it easier to get into a sitting position on the side of the bed.

My dh has been pulling me up so I wouldn't have to use the abdominal muscles. It sure did help. He's not here today, so I just tried your suggestion. I found out that if I don't tighten the abdominal muscles, it sure does help. It still hurts, but it helped a lot. Thanks! I also have my mom's walker beside the bed and it helps, too, when I stand, although I'm not using it to walk. I really think I'm doing some better today. Tomorrow should be even better.

Thank you! I'm so glad I had this done. It has already solved a few problems I was experiencing.

I am so sorry I missed this thread! :(:( But I am glad to hear that the surgery was successful and you are on your way to recovery. I just bet Betty Boop will give you lots of love!!
