Son's Eye Injury I would like to ask whoever is willing, to pray for our 19 year-old son, Matthew. He was wiping down some basement walls last Thursday with ammonia. He set the bottle up on the pillar above him and when he went to grab the bottle, he grabbed it wrong and it spilled into his face. He was alone but managed to flush his eyes and dial 911. They did all they could for him at the ER and then sent him on to a specialist. The doctor does not see any permanent damage to the eye and told him the vision should return in 48 hours. Now, 5 days later not only has the sight not returned, but has gotten worse. He has no vision in the right eye and can only see shapes out of the left. He was supposed to call this morning for an appointment with another specialist for today. I have not heard yet if he got an appointment or not. It's difficult to not be there for this and have to wait for news. |

Our daughter had an eye injury a few years ago I know how concerned you are. I will keep him in my prayers! Our daughter was hit in the eye by someone whipping one of those glow in the dark things around. It tore her eye in two places. Her vision did return but she has to be checked yearly to make sure it gets no worse. The eye however is changed cosmetically. So she has one blue eye and one black eye, the pupil is always large and she has to wear sunglasses even in winter. I am so sorry this happened to your son they are so young to have these things happen. |
Sorry to hear about your daughter's injury, but so glad that it healed! Thank you, everyone, for your prayers. I really do appreciate them, more than you know. This child has had some really serious problems all his life and this just has gotten to me. He's survived seizures and an auto accident where he rolled his vehicle 5 times and was airlifted, all within the past 2 years. It just seems like it will never end. I keep telling myself that God really has a plan for his life. Thank goodness our other 4 live a pretty quiet life! |

Thank you everyone. We talked to him last night and there has been no change. The doctor did not see him yesterday. He was told to wait until his Friday appointment. He's going to call back today and try again. He's scared (though he hasn't said that) and discouraged. I'm a librarian so he asked if I could bring him out some audio books this weekend so he has something to do. My DH just sent me a text message this morning saying that he's really struggling today. He's been the one that's been positive and reminding us all that it might just take time to heal. |

Thank you for praying, everyone. It is working! I just talked to him tonight and the left eye cleared up quite a bit today. :D He still has no vision in the right eye, but we're hoping that since it's so much worse it's just going to take longer. A 2nd eye specialist has looked at him and also sees no permanent damage to the eyes and says that vision should return. He is scheduled for an MRI next Thursday and a trip to the Cleveland Clinic on the 27th, if it hasn't all returned by that time. I really needed that news today. I spent all day doing damage control because someone hacked into my email account and then into Paypal and Ebay and purchased an iphone for over $700 and a Louis Vuitton wallet for over $800 on my account yesterday. :( Hopefully my week gets better from here on out. |
Hi Rhonda -- great to read through your thread and see that you finally have some encouraging news. Sounds like it is just taking time to heal. I will say a prayer for continued healing and some comfort for you as I know how worried you have been! Can't believe with all you are dealing with someone hacked and bought things on your accounts. When it rains it pours! |
That is great news! I saw a thing on tv last night that had someone working with glass, they said any time you work with something that could be dangerous work above it. I thought of your son, wish he knew to put the stuff below him. I am sure he will never make that mistake again! Hope things get better for both of you! |
eye injury I hope your son gets better! I few years ago I sort of lost control of a curling iron while curling my hair and it hit me in the eye! Pain like nothing I have ever felt and complete blindness in the eye. It formed a blister on my cornea. A friend hurried me to ophthalmologist who was concerned; but told me he sees these every so often. All I needed for pain was ice packs. The whole blister on my eye peeled off, leaving me blurry sighted for a while but eventually returned to near normal. Here is hoping your son is as fortunate. |

Thanks for the prayers and checking on him. The vision in the left eye has returned and he describes it as "good". He is still blind in the right eye though. Please continue to pray that the eyesight will return fully. |

I just wanted to update and thank everyone once again that has prayed for our son. The vision has returned equally in both eyes. The only problems now are focusing issues and he has no peripheral vision. He had an MRI last Thursday and will pick up the disc for that on his way to the Cleveland Clinic this Tuesday. They are sending him to see if they can figure out why the vision took so long to return and why it hasn't completely healed. We are hoping that they can also find out why he's had a couple of seizures in the past 2 years and the cause of his hemiplegic migraines also. You have to wonder if this is all tied together somehow. |
