Sending up more prayers for our friend Cindy!!! |
Cindy, sending prayers for yr surgery in a few days. Hoping/Praying that the surgeons are successful in helping with yr pain. |
OMG Cindy I am just now seeing this! Sending tons of prayers and PT your way for the 30th. Hopefully you will be on the up side of the 50% and this will help alleviate your pain. I know how hard it is to live in pain on a daily basis, believe me. My motorcycle wreck was 14 years ago and not a day goes by I don't feel it. There is nothing left surgery wise for me besides total hip/knee replacements and docs say I'm too young, because I would require probably 3 more in my lifetime if I get them now, and the arthritis is forever. :( Your lucky to have a chance that this surgery will work. I hope and pray that it will :) Nobody deserves to hurt all the time. (((((HUGS))))) |
Cindy, You are in my prayers. Tammy |
Thank you everyone for you thoughts and prayers. You will never know how much I appreciate them. Tomorrow is my "big day". I report to the hospital bright and early at 6 am for Tarsal Tunnel Surgery. Actually, it is an exploratory surgery - the surgeon hopes to find and repair the place where the tibial nerve was damaged. It could be crushed, severed, or pinched. I am hoping that it is simply pinched and that the repair will be short sweet and simple. However, he will make an incision just above my ankle which will continue to the bottom of my foot to explore the nerve as it branches off. At this point I expect to be completely non weight bearing on my left leg for 4to six months. I expect that I will be completely "off my feet" for a couple of days, and then it's back to the sewing macine for me. My dh Ronald will have his blackberry and cell phone and will give updates to a couple of key people who will post updates. Thank you for all of your prayers, positive thoughts, and kindness during this time. |
Jamie and I are sending you TONS of hugs and prayers and puppy kisses! |
Good luck tomorrow, Cindy!!!!! I am sending a prayer and positive thoughts to you! Hugs!! |
So sad to hear of your pain. I will pray that the surgeons have the wisdom and knowledge to get you feeling back to yourself before the accident. Keep us posted on the progress. God bless. :) |
Praying for a successful surgery tomorrow. |
Cindy, I love your positive attitude. You have always impressed me and I am so glad to be your friend. My continued prayers for a successful surgery and relief from the pain you have been in. Prayers work.. Hugs to you sweetie. Bobbi |
Gosh, I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner. :( You are probably out of surgery by now. I hope things went well and I certainly am waiting for an update!! Blessings |
Cindy, Your in my thoughts and prayers :) |
Hope all goes well tomorrow and the surgery helps you. Nerve pain is NOT fun. I had nerves burned (not the technical term) in my neck and lumbar region to relieve nerve pain after a bad motorcycle accident. So I can relate to what you are going through. My thoughts are with you and I pray for a successful outcome for you. |
Wasn't her surgery today? Is there an update somewhere? |
Surgery Update Hello friends, first of all, I need to apologize for not posting earlier. After I got home I took a couple of naps, got excited about the raffle and then forgot. Can I blame it on the drugs ???? -- the are REALLY good! So here's the long version..... I got to the hospital for their out patient cattle call at 5:30 am this morning. I was first up for my doctor so things started pretty fast - you know, pee for the last time and ditch your clothes in favor for that lovely tie in the back designer gown. Laying almost naked on the hospital bed twiddling my thumbs and the nurse comes in and MAKES ME TAKE MY WEDDING BAND OFF. I have NEVER had to take it off for a surgery - and I got very angry at Nurse Meanie and didn't like her the rest of the day. I have only had my wedding band off twice in 27 years :( . This damn surgery lasted one hour - my other surgery was a lot longer :( I am really pissed. She wanted me to sign a waiver so they could CUT it off if there was swelling during the procedure so I greased up my finger real good and slipped it off for the third time in 27 years :( I cried like a baby. Nurse Meanie put her hand on my shoulder - one of those comforting thingies - I almost slapped it off, but my good manners paid off and I just moved my shoulder away. :D I DO NOT LIKE YOU NURSE MEANIE!!!!! Ok - next comes nurse needle to put the iv in - she was wearing a georgous emerald shaped diamond ring - very similar to my engagement ring (which I DID NOT wear to the hospital). So we had a nice talk about that while she was sticking and taping. Then another long wait minus wedding band but plus needle and enough tape to wrap 3 large Christmas presents and incomes dr. sleepy to discuss putting me to sleep and waking me up again :) Then comes in my bald taxi driver - why didn't I get the cute one with the hair? This guy used to be a painter - made me feel good painter turned nurse????? aaaawwww then nurse feel good gave me a shot of something and I woke up sometime later with a bandage on my leg and needing to go pee like you wouldn't believe. I know the ortho doc was there but I never saw him. He finished me up, talked to Ron and moved down the surgery assembly line to the next case of the day. Surgery Results -- The nerve was intact, with little damage. There was some scar tissue - which they removed as best as possible. Two blood vessels were touching the nerve, and they were schooched out of the way. A ligament was growing around the nerve, so it was moved - I am assuming that it was cut from around the nerve and repositioned. I have a 6 to 8" cut in my foot left leg from just above my ankle to the bottom of my foot. Doctor told Ron that I am on NO restrictions except I couldn't drive today - tomorrow is another day :) I went home WITHOUT crutches and can start walking as soon as I feel like it. I would like to thank everyonw who posted, said a prayer, had a positive thought, etc. God is Good and He answers all prayer. This time He in His All Knowing Wisdom has allowed me a second chance to walk again without pain. I am so very blessed! |
Aww Cindy, your post was funny. I love the way you told it. I'm glad its gone well and that everything is looking very positive. :D There's not much I can say here that I haven't already told you a trillion times already today in chat... so I'll just repeat myself... You mean a great deal to us all Cindy and everyone who knows you will be praying their hearts out that you will benefit to the maximum from this surgery. I'm so glad to see that your spirits have lifted again and we're seeing you laughing and joking as much as you used to before you had to go through all of this. Me and the girls are sending you love, hugs and puppy kisses. We all love you very much. |
Cindy whether it be the drugs or not, I love that you have kept your sense of humor! You are very special and just think the world of you!!! Sounds like someone is well on their way to a speedy recovery with excellent results!!! Sam and I are always keeping you in our thoughts and prayers!!! |
So happy to hear that things went so well and you will be back on your feet soon! |
Awww, Cindy, you are such a good story teller. I pray that the surgery will put a end to your pain. Please keep us updated. (((Hugs))) |
I am just now seeing this post. I am so happy that everything went well. My thoughts are with your on your recovery. May your recovery be short and your wedding band stay on your finger for another long stretch of time. |
Geez, I had turned the computer off and was getting ready for a good long snooze when I realized that my post might have offended those in the medical field. Since I was having a major panic attack and a bit of a guilty conscious I powered the computer back up to apologize to any of you compassionate doctors, nurses, and others in the medical field that I might have offended with my post. I can assure you that ALL of what was done was within hospital policy and I understand that most of it was necessary. Probably the ONLY thing that I so disagree with was making such a big deal about my wedding band (Nurse Meanie WAS NOT NICE nor was she compassionate about my feelings). Here I was a patient scared to death about to have a surgery and she had to be on a power kick about one simple thing that would have meant so very much to me. She was a mean nasty person who was unwilling to work with an upset patient - I don't wish a nurse like that on any one. With that said, I want to apologize if, in my attempt to make my surgery procedure a more "fun filled event" for the reader that I have offended ANYONE, please accept my apology. Gee - I can even blame it on the pain meds I am taking :) |

The same goes for our heroes in the law enforcement field, our fire fighters and our soldiers and many other unsung heros who help others daily. We can't forget our veternarians and the people who staff their offices - I am blessed in that area, but I see posts from so many that are not so fortunate. |

Consider it done :) Again, thank you for being such kind soul and a hero to both those you treat AND to the yorkies you love. |
Oh hooray Cindy! I'm so glad to hear that your surgery went wonderfully and that you have lovely drugs to keep you pain-free or at least dulled to the point of not caring!;) It sounds like God was doing a good job of guiding that surgeons hands and keeping your foot in the best possible condition for the surgery to work! Go God!! I love it.:D Take good care of yourself and don't overdoe it for awhile OK?! |
Thank you for the update Cindy and I loved reading every word of it and had to read it again, just in case I missed something. LOL I hope your recuperation goes as well and that you are able to hold on to that wonderful sense of humor that we all love and adore !!! (( hugs )) to you my friend. |
Loved your version of your surgery...too funny. I think we've all had a Nurse Meanie before and you don't dare offend them when they're standing over you with a weapon in their hands. I for one totally tense up at the sight of a needle. Glad to hear all went well in the end and wish you a speedy recovery and no more pain. |
