Prayers Needed For Dottie
 

I know I posted it on the "General" board but wanted to post it here now that there's a forum for prayer requests, this way those checking this forum can find it. Dottie (our german shorthair pointer) had surgery yesterday for a tooth extraction and to have a lump removed that had turned black. The surgery went well and she's home safe and sound with us. However, we won't get the results back for the biopsy for 5 working days. We're in need of prayers that the results come back that it's nothing bad and not a malignant cancer. Thanks so much, I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you so much Bobbi, I greatly appreciate it. I think this is gonna be the longest week of my life! I hate waiting for results like these. I just want that call tat the results are good and she's ok!

Thanks Southerngal, it's so much appreciated. yes, things have been very tough lately, but, what is it they say, "What doesn't kill us will only makes us stronger?" I'm hangin onto that with all my heart. Right now I feel pretty darn weak with all we've been through lately. Have ya ever just had one of those days where you feel like you've bee put through the wringer? Well, it's pretty much felt that way for a few weeks here. I know there's a silver lining in this cloud somewhere and I'm praying like crazy it's with Dottie. I can't take anymore bad news. We've had two deaths in our family in the past week and a half, then Maggy May's spay, then her incision came open and now awaiting the results of Dottes biopsy, ya, we need some good news....

Awww....I'm sorry there has been so much distress for you and your family recently. Makes it tough to get up and face the days, I know from experience.

You are due some good news after all of the bad and I'll be praying the biopsy comes back with good results for Dottie and you all!

Oh I'm distracting myself alright. I'm going through and cleaning my computer up, just deleted 45,000 pics, I backed them all up on CD, had them from 2001, lol. Figure there's no time like now to clean it all up, and, it's a good distraction. Thanks for the prayers everyone, and I'll be sure and update just as soon as I hear anything.

Such a long time to wait. Keep thinking good thoughts and I'm sending along some prayers and hugs for you and for Dottie for a good report.

Thank you very much everyone, I appreciate every prayer going up. The waiting is so hard, I hope they get the results back early.

Any update on Dottie's results?

Not as of yet, they said it could take up to 5 working days to get any results, which would take us into the beginning part of this coming week.

I posted the result in the gerneral forum, but wated to post them here as well so you all know Dottie no longer needs prayers.

I got up early this AM and started calling the vet, however, the doc wasn't able to speak with me right away because they had so many emergencies today. So, he called me just about a half hour ago with the results of Dotties biopsy. I'm VERY RELIEVED and HAPPY to say that Dottie DOES NOT have cancer. God, I am so relieved.... What she had was a hamartoma. I did a search on it to understand it better and this is what it says:

A hamartoma is a focal malformation that resembles a neoplasm in the tissue of its origin. This is not a malignant tumor, and it grows at the same rate as the surrounding tissues. It is composed of tissue elements normally found at that site but that are growing in a disorganized mass. They occur in many different parts of the body and are most often asymptomatic and undetected unless seen on an image taken for another reason. Hamartomas result from an abnormal formation of normal tissue, although the underlying reasons for the abnormality are not fully understood. They grow along with, and at the same rate as, the organ from whose tissue they are made, and, unlike cancerous tumors, only rarely invade or compress surrounding structures significantly.

A hamartoma, while generally benign, can cause problems due to their location. When located on the skin, especially the face or neck, they can be extremely disfiguring, as in the case of a man with a hamartoma the size of a small orange on his eyelid.[1] They may obstruct practically any organ in the body, such as the eye, the colon, etc. They are particularly likely to cause major health issues when located in the hypothalamus, spleen or kidneys.


I thank you ALL from the bottom of my heart for the many, many prayers that went up for her. I thank God for letting it be a nothing lump and letting her be ok. Now I can breath a bit easier.
