AZ Meet Up In The Works
 

Hey everyone!!! I am trying to plan a meet up around the end of September and would like to see how many are interested on coming? Since moving out here from MI, I really am missing not having meet ups so I need to get things going out here :)

We live in Gilbert (Riggs & Higley) and have 5 Yorkies (Sassy, Kenya, Bradley, Nugget & Chase). We have a nice big back yard that is fenced in so tons of running around for the fur kids. I figured we could do a Pot Luck. We would also have some prizes to give away :)

So what do you guys think?

My family lives out in AZ - they have 2 Yorkie girls.

...Hey - We are planning a trip out there with all the pups in the beginning of January. I would really love to try and get a Yorkie Meetup then too :D

I live in Tucson and don't have a Yorkie... yet. I've been thinking about getting one for quite some time. Would folks from YorkieTalk.com who don't have their pups yet be able to come or would it just be for YAM&D (Yorkie accompanied Moms and Dads)?

Joan, I haven't drove to Tucson yet but Yahoo maps say about 1hr 30mins....


Oh forgot also..We will have dresses for sale here also. Most of them are small size but we can always measure the pups if anyone wanted one made. My mom & myself make dog clothes. Here are a few pics so you can see what some look like.

I put it on my calendar! We can't wait to play with other yorkies!!!:p

I can drive the hour and a half for sure!! I'm looking forward to meeting all of you and especially to be able to play with your Yorkies! You know, I take the bringing of a new dog member into our family so very seriously, and it's vital that I be able to play and interact with Yorkies before committing to bringing one home someday (someday SOON, I hope!) So the fact that you're being so gracious and allowing me to come despite the fact that I am "Yorkie-deprieved" means so much to me.
My service dog, Levi, has been having exposure to the tiny dogs at the dogpark and is so gentle with them. I've so relieved as this issue was the major stumbling block for me regarding bringing a Yorkie (or a Maltese) into our home. Levi is an authentic Australian Labradoodle from Sydney and is such a love. He's helped me cope with my illness so much better and I'm out and about so much more than I was before he came into my life! I've got a severe level of fibromyalgia and was bed-ridden 5 days out of seven, every week for 15 years... Now I'm bed-ridden maybe two days a week. What an improvement!
Oh. Wait. I just realized you might be thinking that I'll be bringing a big dog to the gathering. No, no. This is a time for the little ones to play without any concerns from bigger guys! I wouldn't even think nof it.

Abbie has never been to a meet up before. It would be interesting to see her around other yorkies. She is always around my big dog!

Joan-It's no problem that you come. There were a few at the MI meet ups that didn't own a Yorkie that came. I would love to see a picture of your Levi :) I bet he is a cutie pie!! That is so great that he has improved your life so much. Pets can do that.

Abbie's mom-If she is shy, we will get her to come out of her shell!! I have a good friend of mine in MI that her Yorkie was always shy at meet ups and would just sit on her lap or under the tables but after a while she opened up. You wouldn't believe it was the same Yorkie if you saw her now lol

I would like to get meet ups going atleast once a month even if it's just a few of us. I miss having the meet ups & made SO MANY friends (basicly family now) from having the meet ups in MI.

I'm in South Phoenix (on South Mountain) - how far would I be from you?

I could host something sometime as well - we have a big fenced (adobe-ed) backyard w/ a pool if anyone wants to dog paddle!

There are some others from AZ too - "AZKaty" and I can't remember who else...

With all the freeways, it wouldn't take you long at all - maybe 30 minutes.

We also have a pool & we have a kiddie pool that the pups can play in.

Hope you can make it WyliesMom!!! I've heard of South Mountain but I haven't been there yet so I don't know how long but I'll go with what Xena's Mommy said lol.

I work in Ahwatukee, which is by south mountain, and I live in Gilbert near lilsarahboo21 and it takes about 30 minutes if you drive on the 202 San Tan Freeway.

I had taken the time to go thru the list of YT'ers by doing a search for Arizona.. anyway.. got a list of about 30 or so. We had several meets.. Dena hosted once-- I hosted once.. and there may have been another time.

I have the list.. but I did not save it to a word document..
I think you can do a search for Arizona people like I did.

Hope this will be an inside meet on tile floors!

Here is how to find members..
 

go to the members pages..go to advanced search.. then go to zip codes. put in the first few numbers.. like 85---. Thats how I found everyone.. at least for those who put their zip codes in their profile.

Better yet..
 

Advanced search with specified zip codes wiill work for metro area and Tucson.

Members that are more that about 1 1/2 never wrote me back last time.

September may still be pretty hot.. with all the running around. I strongly suggest an indoor room ,as well, with tile floors- cause there may be some accidents.We had some pretty warm fur kids ( and parents).

And I may be able to find the list I printed out.

As far as food/drink.. everyone was pretty busy watching the kids, and no one ate.My suggestion would be drinks alone.

VERY good points. My guys overheat after about 5-10 minutes outside this time of year. And tile floors/hard floors are probably essential! :rolleyes:

Don't worry we will be able to be inside the house also. If anyone has males, can they bring a belly band? If you don't own one don't worry cause we have TONS of them to go around since we make them (Our boys like to mark :( bad thing about having 3 boys lol).

All the meet ups that we have hosted/gone too (Michigan) we always have a pot luck and normaly we all eat too. You don't have to eat if you not hungry but there will be food for everyone & plenty of drinks. Also everything that the furkids could want or need we will have.

I will post all the details tomorrow (Saturday).

I'm still hoping I can come! What can we bring? Do you want to assign us some food/drink once we get closer to the date?

We are sooo looking forward to meeting other Yorkie families. Please let me know how I can help.

I won't assign food/drinks...I will just post what I will supply and then you guys can decide what you would like to bring. You can post what your bringing so everyone knows. If someone brings the same thing don't worry about it lol.
