We're near Augusta, but travel to Atlanta once a month-would love to meet some other yorkie owners to schedule some play dates ATL has a great coffeeshop with a dog park attached. |
Where is this coffee shop? |
Its a little place in the Reynold's Town neighborhood of Atlanta, called Park Grounds. |
Can't believe I'm so late to find this thread. Presley and I are in Duluth! |
XFoxyX I am right by you in Sugar Hill! Maybe we can take our lil ones out to a park! |
Tmiler04 I've never taken Presley to the park as he is unable to wear his leash/harness for longer than a few minutes. He has some nerve damage around his upper shoulders and neck and down his front leg. After a bit they start to irritate him. We actually didn't know he had actual nerve damage till later in life, otherwise we'd have tried to do something for him. He gets around fine for the most part. He stumbles a little but it does not seem to bother him. We used to think he just hated wearing leashes or harnesses. I've always wished we could go. :( |
Oh I am sorry to hear that...I just got Cherry a harness yesterday...I love it...She is my smallest dog. I didn't want to hurt her neck...Best wishes to you |
Hi Lynn, I am in the Roswell area. Welcome. I just joined in August because my Roxy girl was expecing her first litter and it looked like a great site for advice. I would love to get together with other yorkie owners. I have one female that is 2 yrs old & a 1 yr old male. The female loves to play with others the male not so much. (We rescued him from a bad situation.) I will try to watch the posts for the get togethers. I have a busy schedule and with 3 new healthy puppies I'm even busier. Mara |
hi am new here! I live in Albany ,Ga and got my lexi 7 weeks ago at 7 weeks of age. I sure could use pointers on grooming. |
The best advice I could give you is not to take the dog to the groomers until it has had all its shots. Get the dog used to being manhandled now by touching and gently tugging all over while feeding small bits of treats or kibble. Praise and treat the dog while you brush its fur and teeth and do this daily so the dog gets used to it. |

Looking for Georgia People I am from SE Georgia, Brunswick. I have a little Yorkie, and she is 3 1/2 years old. She is my first Yorkie, and I'd love to have another one. I love the Yorkie personality so much! If you know of someone who breads Yorkies in my area, please let me know. |
I used to live in Griffin, GA, but moved about two years ago to Cumming, GA. Anyone out there close to me? Does anyone know if there is a list of studs in a certain area? I tried to mate my yorkie twice with the same male and actually saw them tie last time. No puppies though. We had her xrayed last weekend and nothing. She would have been due this Monday. I really want to keep a pup from her. She's a wonderful dog! She had puppies awhile ago with a different male. |
This thread has been going a long time! I lived in Columbus Ga for 30 years but have been in Ringgold, Ga since 1996 (10 mi south of Chattanooga). My Huey doesn't get play with other dogs very much, and when he does, they are usually big like dobermans or great danes! He does love to get out and about, though. |
Hey all, I'm in GA too..Conyers. I have been a yorkie owner for 14 1/2 years. We lost our Mr. Bojangles last June and after a lot of heart ache we got teeny tiny Honey Baby. She is 10 months old and weighs a whooping 3.4 lbs.. She and I are in training at Petsmart. We are having a great time with the other babies and the people. She is so smart it is scary!!!! We have had her since Dec. so far we are doing good!! |
