Fresh Start, TAKE 2: FL Meet-Up?
 

Hi everyone! :wavey:

Things have gotten a bit out of hand ... I want to try this over again, give us all a fresh start and see if we can't make this happen, without any stress, confusion, or frustration. In the end, if a meet-up is able to happen it should be FUN! :cool:

We had decided previously that Tampa is a good in-between point for us to meet. (If you feel differently please feel free to make another suggestion!) Again, once the area/city of Tampa was decided as the meet-up location we decided Saturday, June 13th was a good day for us all to meet.

Depending on what takes place we may decide on setting up a minimal fee just to cover food costs. We may also do a mini gift exchange between those that go to the meet-up so that all doggies would go home with something. Again, both of these are just possibilities that are dependent on if the meet-up takes place and what we decide to do there!

So, are you interested in a meet-up on June 13th in Tampa, Florida?

So if you're interested in meeting all these lovely YT'ers in your area, having a fun day, and having your little one play with other Yorkies this is the place for you to be! :woof:

I for one would love to have a FL meet-up! Having met the lovely Jess (JesBred) I can only imagine how great meeting more great YT'ers would be!

While I do not live in Tampa I'd be willing to make the drive in order for us to join in on such a fun thing!

I would love to go, but like I've said on the original thread, it falls on MIL 80th Birthday, and all the family is getting together for a surprise party.

I think its a great idea! The date and place was perfect it seemed.. I thought we had agreed to bring food?? I wouldn't mind pitching in either as long as wasn't to out of the park.

I think the organizers should pick the place, date etc because afterall they are the ones planning it. If the others would like to go they should rsvp and pitch in some money for food. And if they show up without notice or pitching in for food they can get some mcdees if they want to eat. jmo

I'm still in. I don't think the babies need anything to take home, if anything I would ask some vendors for possible raffle prizes. As for the parents needing food, they can probably eat before and after the meet-up. This would leave less of a mess in the party location. If anything is needed I would say drinks (soft drinks) and snacks like chips or cookies. It seems to me like we're only going to meet for a few hours. We are really looking forward to this event, but adding additional costs to our road trip really put a damper on it.

i would love to go too. but have no way of getting there. :(

Thats the whole thing... No One is thinking of the mess that will be left all over my house yard and pool.

The mess I will have to clean after all leave because I wouldnt allow any of you to lift a finger... ALL anyone is worried about it that 20 dollar bill.

Until that changes - this really cant go anywhere IF WE ARENT EVEN WILLING TO PUT 20 DAMN DOLLARS IN IT!

Too much drama in this for me. :thumbdown

God knows I OFFERED THE WORLD!!! It would have been 90210 over here. My hands are tied.

I did not read the original thread and I am not sure who is planning or who offered their home or what. Maybe I am misreading Little one's post.???:confused:

wow... why does it have to be at some one's house.. I have had meet up from other threads.. and have not see this kind of posts... last year there was a meet up and they all met someplace..

Ok ya'll im becoming frustrated and annoyed with this.

LittleOne if you want to have the event at your home, that is fine. I think we should all bring our own food and beverages if wanted and pick them up after. I will help stay after and clean up as I am staying with Sarah across the street. But I do think that the deposit will make people not want to come. I know all I want to do is let my dog get acquainted with others. I never planned on having goodies, or a caterer. I just thought it was a backyard get together. plain and simple.

If not I think we need to find a location in Tampa, like the dog beach, that we can all meet at a certain time. That way everyone is left to their own picking up and providing themselves with food/drinks, noone is stressed or having to be worrying about how many are showing up.

This has gotten out of hand imo

I think that is that problem. I think we need to pick a place we can all meet without having the hassle of someone else worrying about their house

OK so I just went and read the other threads.this is my observations to date:
I see a fairly recent new comer, with very few posts wants to charge members 20 to come to their home...lol

Because they live in an elite neighborhood where houses start at $350K and they have live-in help and they think they should be compensated for giving up a day on the water with their family. OH and because she would be stuck cleaning up after us BECAUSE she would never let us lift a hand.
I have been to meet ups with 20+ yorkies...lol
The events are come as you are..bring what you want kind of events. I have had incredibly great times with awesome people.
THIS DOES NOT HAVE TO BE THE EVENT OF THE YEAR PEOPLE!!
What happened to just getting together for a little fun.

Well said Lisa... that is what I was getting also.. you just said it better.. and I am not into this to see who has the best house and who has the maid...etc... a good friendly dog meet up as you said Lisa.. this is how we met and have been friends since..
It is a meet up girls.. not a house plus show!!!!
It is just fun to do a meet.. the rest of us by the sounds of it.. are not impressed with a newbie coming on and wanting to run the show.. with comments that are not needed..

It appears that you too are not in agreement with doing it the 'formal' way Little one suggested.

I would volunteer to try to find a location for a Tampa location since I live and work close by, however, I am about to sit for a national orthopaedic certification exam and must study for the next two weeks and then I am in a wedding at the end of May and will be tied up with family.

I know everyone driving in would need the information long before I could assist.

I do have an xpen if it would be needed though.

I would love to see this meet-up happen in reality. The meet-up should truly just be about the dogs. We should not try to complicate ourselves with things that are unnecessary. While it would be nice to have some luxuries in today's time it is becoming increasingly difficult financially. I believe we should settle a location, a private lot would be ideal, buy anywhere really. I believe that if we were to do it a potluck would be a great idea. Those that are coming from afar could just bring chips and salsa, or the plates and silverware. I have been to many potlucks and in every single one there has been enough food and most of the time lots of leftovers. If we use plastic plates and silverware clean-up would be a breeze. Also we could have a sort of gift exchange. Everyone just needs to buy a gift, something cheap like a $5 max and then people pick from the table, etc. I just want Dino to have some great playtime with some new dogs. This should not be a complicated affair. I have been out of the loop for several days since I have been in final exams and didn't know what was going on until now.

I would love to attend any meet-up. I will take the trip because I am very excited to go to a meet-up and meet lots of wonderful yorkies. Afterall, its about them, not us.

I am sad to see that this has turned into such drama.

I do not think that Little One was trying to do any harm by asking for a 20 fee. I think she was just worried that she would extend her home and then since no one had obligated, they would not bother coming and she would be out money and time. Which is understandable.

I think it was a little rude for FL Tink to post such things, but anyone can say what they may feel.

I think it would be best if we are going to try and make this meey up work, that we start fresh.

oh and there she is... WEAK.

I think this post is a little out of line, IMO. The number of posts has nothing to do with real life... so that brought nothing to this thread. I think Little One was just trying to secure a definite number of people and make sure we werent left hanging to dry.

While catering is not necessary, I think this was just to ensure that we had a stress free fun day. Which would be nice. lol.

All in all, I think things are way out of control.

If there is any interest in meeting up, we can proceed. If not, I think this thread should be closed.

There is no need for direct insults to Little One, or any one else for that matter. It is HER HOUSE she was opening and can set whatever standards she wishes.

Have you ever been to a meet up or hosted one? Dinolover is right. Its about the dogs not us.
Unfortunately you dont know ME. I have over 4500 POSITIVE posts. You will not find one of those post as negative as the one i posted above. However, I responded just as HONESTLY as Little one did. Now, that said,
Many of the people that have been reading THIS and the other threads have contacted me thru private pm stating they feel the exact same way!!! AND that they are still interested in a no drama, non-complicated meetup.

I took a few minutes and looked for a few places.
There are several public parks that allow dogs and have pavillions to rent. I would be willing to pay for the entire pavillion MYSELF because its not about the money!!! NO STRINGS ATTACHED. We pick up after our selves!
It would just be nice to get together PERIOD. THE END.The pavillions are covered picnic tables that would allow shade for us all since it is the middle of June.

I agree it is not "About the money". Please, by all means, feel free to take the reigns and plan this. Quite frankly, I am over it.
